Just answer the title and add how you would act or any details. Thanks...

I would want to be a wizard, regardless of which edition we speak of. I just like wizards. I'd be a human, since I'm happy as one. The reason I'd want to be a wizard is that I'd be able to bend reality as I wished, through study and practice.

I'd act the same way I always do.

EDIT: Actually, Bard would be my pick, but I'd need to learn how to play an instrument or sing.

Definitely a Human Warlord.

Human: Even when I'm playing, I play humans more often than anything else. Humans are versatile, universal, and interesting enough.

Warlord: The ability to be useful and appreciated by anyone, the ability to command and inspire, and the invaluable nature of their powers makes the warlord my favorite class, and I don't think IRL it'd be any different.

Speaking of 4e - wizard, multiclass cleric ;). That way I never have to carry things, or get up to clean et c. And the only seasonings I ever need are in my finger. Everything tastes better, chores are just a matter of me pointing at things, and I can heal any injuries I get magically. So I guess I'd need to be an elf to counter-balance the obvious results of how lazy I'd be.

Elf Druid. 'Cause I'm a furry, and elves live a looooong time.

No one has picked barbarian, maybe because they look like cave men. LOL. or a dwarf.

Hmm... For race...
I like having hair, so Dragonborn, Gensai, and Goliath are out. I like being taller, so Dwarf, Halfling, and Gnome out. I like my heavier build, so Eladrin, Elf, and Drow are out due to thin frame. I don't think I could deal with having a tail, because that's gotta be annoying sometimes, so Tieflings are out.
After that, Deva are cool, but I don't think I'd like living that sort of life cycle, so that leaves Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Human, and Shifter... It think I could be able to deal with any of these, really, but for sexiness, I think I'm going to have to go with Half-Orc.

And now for class...
I'm not a particularly religious person, so all of the divine power source classes are out (Cleric, Paladin, Avenger, Invoker). Furthermore, I can't really see myself pulling from the Primal power source either, so those classes are out too (Barbarian, Druid, Shaman, Warden). I could do martial or arcane, but I don't think I'd be into doing both, so Swordmage is out. It's not really my style to make deals for power, so Warlock is out, and I'm not very leaderly, so I'm also going to cut out the remaining leader role classes (Warlord, Bard). I'm also not really a heavy armor kind of guy, so classes that depend on those are out too (Fighter).
That leaves Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, and Sorcerer... Hmm... I think I'd prefer to be a ranged guy, so I can probably cut out Rogue, but Archer Rangers can stay... I want to say Sorcerer, but I just don't like their currently available power source options, so that's going to leave me with either Archer Ranger or Wizard... Close call, but I'm going to have to go with Wizard, because I think it matches my personality more...

Half-Orc Wizard... Well that's not a very optimal combination, but whatever. :P
Hmm... I'd probably go either Staff or Tome...

Race: Half-orc, because I'm pretty quick and I'd like to be stronger. I also tend to get tougher when hurt (half-orc Temp HP ability), and I fuel my strength with fury (Furious Assault).
Class: Rageblood Barbarian. I like being outside (Primal), I like using pointed, sharpened pieces of steel (Barbarian or Warden), and I draw on my rage when I need strength (Barbarian). Rageblood Vigor is my personal preference.

Race: I'll throw a vote in for Deva - Semi-Immortality is good enough for me.

Class: I'll also go with the Invoker - nothing says "I hate you!" better then a mortal full of divine wrath.

3E: Changeling Scout. In my circle of friends, Stealth, cunning, and dexterity are highly valuable. We often do "urban exploration,"which is where you and a group of friends wander around the city, explore new places, climb on top of buildings, sneak into unfinished construction zones, and generally try and find new and interesting locations. We never stole anything. We never damaged property. We never inconvenienced or injured people in any way. Scout is the perfect class for Urban Exploration. Quick, Agile, and stealthy. Also, I couldn't pass up Changelings, because they are just too damn cool.

4E: Gnome Bard. Bards in 4E seem to be less douchebaggy than in 3E. They rely more on inspiration and the music of the soul than playing a pretty song. I don't think I could ever get past being able to carry myself in such a way, knowing that my ideas and creative inspiration would totally BLOW YOUR MIND! And Gnomes are just the cutest little guys ever! ("I'm a monster! Rawr!")

Race: Dwarf because dwarves are made of awesome. Dwarves define cool. So being a dwarf I'd be auto cool and have a really nice looking beard. Beards = cool. I'd also be one hell of a drinker.

Class: Wizard. They're awesome. They also define awesome. They wear monocles, have beards and walk around with staves. Also, wizards are just about the only class that gets to walk around in their bathroom robes.

That they are. But I get enough short jokes at 5'2'' (ish) that I'd rather be taller in fantasy land

Illumian Monk/Wizard with Kung-Fu Genius as his first level feat. No xp penalty, a love of the written word, and the ability to put someones face through the back of their skull in two different ways. Life would be good.

I think I'd be a Human Paladin. Frankly I can't escape the Defender role anyway. No matter how hard I try to run and hide from it.

I'm already built for it anyway :P

Hrm... I dislike getting my hands dirty and physical exertion, so martial classes are out. I'm agnostic, and as they haven't released an update to Ur-Priest yet I guess that means anything divine is out. Me and the natural world get along like oil and water so primal is out.

So that leaves Arcane (without the Swordmage).

Warlock... I could see that. Faustian pacts for power? Sure. I could do that. But only if I could find a loop hole.
Sorcerer... I probably couldn't handle not knowing just how/why stuff works, at least with warlock I know *where* the power is coming from, but I think I just like the scientific method too much to be a sorc.
Bard... that could work. I do like playing music (I'm just bad at it) and though I dislike it, I'm not *bad* when I take the lead.
Wizard... yeah, I could see sitting in a tower and throwing lightning bolts down at the peasantry. I'm down with wizard.
Artificer... I really don't know how 4e does the artificer (I didn't look too hard at the preview article) but I really liked both their concept and mechanics in 3e, and if they're sticking with the "sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science" angle again, I think that would be perfect.

... so yeah, after considering the options, I think Artificer. First, I will make a box. Then I will beat you over the head with my box.

As for race... halfling, dwarf, or shifter. What? Can't I base my choice of race off my perceived sexiness of that race (even if it doesn't come out in other artist's interpretations of said race)?

So final result: uh, let's just go with Eberron/Eberron, and call me a shifter artificer. I'm a bit of an outcast in shifter communities, and a bit of an oddity in artificer circles, but I'm used to not-quite fitting in.

Meh i would probaly pick.... ummmmm ill make a chart to figure myself out!

Bard-na too weird and musical
Barbarian-too destructive
Cleric-tooooo religious(im a christian but im not sooo devoted though i am.)
Druid-stupid tree huggers
Fighter-the title says it right there.... lol
Monk-that would hurt my hands.... too fragile lol
Paladin-too nice and polite
Ranger- awesomeness, using 2 swords at once to slice enemys awesome!!
Rogue-too evil they don't protect their friends back
Sorcerer-im not smart,or good at studing
Wizard-pretty much same thing as sorcerer except way of spells known and used.

So i would pick elft because they live for a hell of a time. So ima Ranger-elf.:D

First off, I'd be a 3.5 class and I'd therefore totally own the rest of you. : P

I'd go with changeling or elf, racially. Elf for precisely the reasons that pigknight described (speaking of pigknight, is it cool to make fun of furries again yet?), or changeling because being a changeling gives me the option to retain the familiar human appearance I'm so used to while offering me a pretty awesome racial ability.

For a class, either wizard or beguiler. As weapons go, I'm a big fan of deciet and manipulation. Wizard offers more power and can accomplish a lot of the same illusions and tricks (and then some), but the beguiler is a lot more socially competent and a lot more reliable (since magic can fail or be detected, where a brilliant plan and a silver toungue are tougher to counter).

So, final answer: changeling beguiler.

Pft. I'm a shifter artificer, so I can be 3.5 as well. And in that incarnation, the only limit to an artificer's power is how much money they're willing to burn.

Race: Elan, I can have vague memories and similar personality to help interact with people. I look human so can disguise myself. I am quite resilient, I am immortal. I am naturally psionic. Sounds good to me. (They better be in PHB3 or heads will roll).

Class: Rogue (some manner of Psionic multiclass). I can get in and out of places with ease, know a ton of different skills I am quite agile and deadly in combat. Plus in real-life I have the build to be a Rogue. Psionic since well I adore pseudoscience so if I could make D&D world real I would so make myself naturally Psionic, plus it is very handy thing to have.
