Whenever I work with contractors I wonder how it is that we ever got things built in the first place.

The crane wasn't set up properly. It likely wasn't set with the right counter balance for the weight. Things go very bad when a crane is not set up properly or if the operator is not given the correct weights of the items.

I heard them mention computer error. If it's anything like the giant cranes we use on set sometimes then it's programmed so that it can't extend itself to a dangerous length when the angle of the arm is below a certain range.

That wasn't due to computer error. That was a deliberate attack by the crane. The machine revolution is coming.
