Or is the 4E General Discussion Forum nothing more then "anti-4E this" and "4venger that", with dashes of random ego-stroking and just a small pinch of anything resembling any kind of discussion with merit? Or anything relevantly general to discuss in... erm, general?

Anybody else have a "Is it just me?" thought they'd like to share?

They should of just renamed it edition war general a long time ago.

Haha, I like the sound of that. And it would look oh-so Epic when set against the other forums. Maybe Wizards should create a forum separate from the others - Dedicated to nothing more then solely debating an endless series of opinions about which tabletop game game and/or edition they like better, worse, and outright hate?

That's why I stick in the OTT. We have FUN here, unlike over in 4E general. There's nothing but idiots arguing over there.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Topics in the other areas are places where people of the same mind debate things with people of the opposite mind without really saying anything substantial. The OTT is where all the cool cats hang. Welcome to the Clubhouse.

4e General is all about complaining about one thing or another. If a good topic gets started it is turned into some sort of flame war (usually an edition war) by the second or third page. I've seen people complaining (flaming) about whether or not gods should be statted.

Here is one of them that I'm referring to.

http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1117135

Shiftkitty, was asking about whether or not people thought D&D gods should be statted and why. Her basic assumption was that if they are statted then they seem like overly powerful monsters and if they aren't then they are unimportant background noise.

I remember one guys saying that gods should never be killed or be able to be fought by non gods and that if they are statted then they should be made to be level 100 or higher. His assumption/belief is that deities should be omnieverything.

#16

dirtyfrank

Mar 15, 2009 17:30:48
It seemed like most were of the opinion that gods should be statted and if you don't think they shouldn't be then say that, in your campaign, gods are beyond stats. A certain person couldn't except that and decided to tell everyone else they were dumb and what not because we are supposedly all powergamers (and what's wrong with the world) because we aren't happy unless we've killed everything in the campaign (including all the gods).

The person also said that gods should have the power to know what will happen in the future thus they can and should be able to kill the adventurers while they are in a tavern waiting for their first adventure.

We're not all morons on the Gen Boards, just angry for one reason or another.

- Some people are angry because they want to be right no matter what.

- Some people are angry because they get tired of trying to discuss something only to find one of the aforementioned peoples.

- Some people are just looking for a specific response (positive or negative).

- Some people are just looking for conversation, and hoping that eventually, if all the morons leave, they'll get some.

We've had a few Threads that were great for discussion and we made some decent headway, but recently it's deteriorated and we're getting some very bitter people going at it with some very frustrated people, which just doesn't accomplish much, really. Hopefully things will take another turn for the better fairly soon.

"Rob, I think we should kill those Vecna worshipers before they can create an undead army."

"Great idea Laura. The last thing the villagers in this area need is to run from an army of skeletons."

*The door busts open. Standing in the door way is the figure of a person who is missing one hand and an eye. In his one hand he has a large tome, which is open. He also looks very thin and frail. You notice that his skin looks stretched over his bones and that a smell of death comes from him. From his stump of an arm he reaches forth and casts a spell that sucks out the souls of the adventurers.*

I work as a math tutor which means I have to sit in a room with lots of people studying math and when they raise their hand I have to go over and help them. Some of the regulars are cool, but newer people can irritate me. I hate it when someone has to tell me their life story before they tell me what problem they need help on. All they need to say is "I need help on #37." I don't care to why they are in there getting help and I don't care when they last took math. All I need to know is what problem and what they don't understand.

Is it just me... or has anyone else had this problem as of late?

For the past two days I've been hit with... something. Whenever I log into WotC and try to access the forums, nothing is there. As in, there are no images to click on to jump to a forum. Also, trying google to hit a forum brings up some message about not having viewing privileges, and looking into posts of mine or threads brings up a "No Matches" message.

So, whatever. I left and came back later and PUFF! Suddenly everything is working again. Great. Well, this has happened twice more in the last day alone, and this morning when I tried to get in a quick word before work. I clocked it in around three-four hours before the site was functioning again. I'm not sure what the problem might be, since I've tried deleting cookies, cleaning out temp pages and the like. It seems to be completely random in nature so far as I can tell.
