| #1samsaelSep 07, 2010 19:25:31 | Is it my imagination or are people with the same forum avatar more likely to be initially antagonistic to one another? |
| #2oxybeSep 07, 2010 19:29:15 | a better world through custom avatars? |
| #3oxybeSep 07, 2010 20:10:11 | There can be only one. that's kinda the point of being a legendary. |
| #4oxybeSep 07, 2010 20:25:17 | There can be only one. i see goldomark is not versed the pokeymans. |
| #5oxybeSep 07, 2010 20:53:46 | And you're not familiar with Highlander. i'm familiar with highlander and their swordy-choppy-power-drainy. i was just saying that in pokeymans you can only find one of each legendary. one of which is my current avatar. |
| #6Dark_StrykeSep 07, 2010 23:10:22 | I'm not sure anyone could name where I got my avatar from. Maybe you could, but it's a little obscure. I picked it up because the character actually looks a little like me (in that he has long hair in a ponytail and a goatee). |
| #7The_SilverswordSep 07, 2010 23:50:30 | I'm not sure anyone could name where I got my avatar from. Maybe you could, but it's a little obscure. I picked it up because the character actually looks a little like me (in that he has long hair in a ponytail and a goatee). I assumed you drew it yourself. BUt if I had to guess, it looks like its from Teen Girl Squad |
| #8Dark_StrykeSep 07, 2010 23:54:46 | I assumed you drew it yourself. Got it in one. It's d n d Greg from Teen Girl Squad. |
| #9Mad_JackSep 08, 2010 0:10:35 | I think some of it has to do more with certain avatars being common enough that there's a significantly greater chance that they'll be used by two people who disagree... Although I'd probably find myself more likely to argue with someone who was using the same avatar as goldomark, since I don't like him, lol. Guilt by mental association? lol. Personally, though, I'll most definitely disagree with anybody who showed up on a forum with my avatar, since it's a photo that I took myself. |
| #10EscherEnigmaSep 08, 2010 1:01:27 | Personally, though, I'll most definitely disagree with anybody who showed up on a forum with my avatar, since it's a photo that I took myself. Yeah, I'd probably take personal offense if someone stole my art to make an avatar. |
| #11The_SilverswordSep 08, 2010 1:24:45 | I assumed you drew it yourself. of course!, one of the 4 Gregs, I really need to brush up on my Teen Girl Squad.
I didnt know that was a photo, I always assumed that it was a painting or something, pretty cool, where was it taken at? Yeah, I'd probably take personal offense if someone stole my art to make an avatar. Well damn! There goes my idea for my next avatar. |
| #12Mad_JackSep 08, 2010 3:20:51 |
Hm, yeah, I guess it does kind of look like a painting or illustration when it's small like in my avatar... Actually, it's just a not-quite-life-sized cast resin skull that my brother gave me for my birthday one year, wearing my favorite hat. It's one of the coolest things I own, lol. I sat it on a stool in my basement and snapped a picture... Photography is one of my other 4 billion hobbies. |
| #13The_SilverswordSep 08, 2010 3:47:05 | Thats pretty f'in cool! |
| #14ADHadhSep 08, 2010 3:53:43 | I remember seeing a thread with three different Jaces in a row. You know, the same picture of Jace Beleren, each one cropped differently. Found it kinda funny myself. And is it just me or are Jace and the Avenger the most popular avatars around here? I figured hoods are in, but really? And I wonder who will be (or was) the first to have a manga Jace avatar ;P |
| #15Mad_JackSep 08, 2010 4:21:44 | Personally, though, I'll most definitely disagree with anybody who showed up on a forum with my avatar, since it's a photo that I took myself. Well, for me, it's mostly just that specific picture, as it's my preferred avatar pic on any site that gives me an option. I really wouldn't mind so much if somebody used one of my other photographs as long as they weren't claiming it as their own work. If it's something I've posted on the internet, I consider it public property just as long as nobdy tries to claim it as their own or profit from it. |
| #16Mad_JackSep 08, 2010 4:39:00 | And is it just me or are Jace and the Avenger the most popular avatars around here? I figured hoods are in, but really? Is that this guy? I see him all over the place...
|
| #17toastedamphibianSep 08, 2010 16:00:29 | I'm not sure If I would be angry or amused if I found someone else using my avatar. For the life of me, I cannot fathom someone else wanting to use my avatar as their own for any reason other than impersonating me with the probabal goal of harassing me. I'm just not sure if I would find it more annoying or more amusing (that they went to the effort of bothering). My Avatar is a picture of a stuffed frog I purchased at the Rain Forest Cafe that was then turned into a CS spray and later added overtop some random photo of fire I yoinked off the internet when someone said that the avatar (on a white background) was not toasted enough. |
| #18ADHadhSep 09, 2010 8:51:27 | And is it just me or are Jace and the Avenger the most popular avatars around here? I figured hoods are in, but really? Exactly. |

| #20boraxeSep 09, 2010 10:06:51 | Teen Girl Squad is obscure? Well, I've never heard of it before. |
| #21zombie_babiesSep 09, 2010 10:29:55 | Me neither. After I looked into it, I was not saddened to find I'd never heard of it before. Just not my cup of anything, really. |

I'm just not sure if I would find it more annoying or more amusing (that they went to the effort of bothering). Well, y'know... Thinking about it, I could kind of see some middle-aged woman or young girl with no knowledge of this forum coming across that pic during some random image search and thinking that it's just a cute frog picture because they don't realize that the background is supposed to be flames... |
| #23Mad_JackSep 09, 2010 21:19:15 |
Oh hell... Thanks to us guys in the CharDev image thread, there's not just three differently-cropped versions of this guy, he now also comes in three different COLORS... ![]() |
| #24The_SilverswordSep 09, 2010 23:12:41 | From what I have seen it is not very impressive. Like in not funny. Teen Girl Squad is not meant to be funny, its the tender coming of age story of a group of high school friends, geeze people! |
| #25EscherEnigmaSep 10, 2010 1:08:18 | Dark_Stryke, I want you to know... I just watched all of Teen Girl Squad. I want that time back. |
| #26Dark_StrykeSep 10, 2010 1:30:33 | Dark_Stryke, I want you to know... I just watched all of Teen Girl Squad. I want that time back. Sure. I'll just need your home address in order to mail you that time. /stalk To be honest, I haven't watched TGS in years. It was funny to me back in highschool, but maybe my tastes have matured. Although, arguably, not being funny is the entire point. It started when some fangirl emailed Strongbad, resident jerkass of Homestarrunner.com and asked him to make a comic with her and all her friends in it. So, predictably, he made a crappy short where her and all her friends die in increasingly bizarre ways. Presumably the fandom found this amusing and asked the creators to make more? I really don't know how it managed to spawn a whole series. (P.S. If you didn't like it how come you kept watching it? Not everything I've enjoyed can be universally awesome. Most things. But not everything.) |
| #27oxybeSep 10, 2010 6:16:56 | EE"s a strange one like that, D_S. a strange one indeed. |

Masochistic horror, I suppose. Like watching a train wreck, really. You want to look away, you know you should look away, you're telling your head to look away... but still you stare in abject horror as the cars pile up in a grotesque mockery of engineering. |
