The thing is, it's his 200th birthday today, the most importand date in this, so called, "Chopin year". Chopin, like any other famous Pole*, is Serious Business in Poland. I think not liking Chopin on his 200th birthday here would be kind of like an English man saying that Shakespeare is no big deal. *I know his father was French, and Poland didn't exist in his times (that's why he migrated to France), but he wanted his heart buried here. |
