Interesting case.

He just Sonned Sonnen in spectacular fashion with a nasty broken toe. Yeah, I think he mskes a pretty good case for GOAT.

Yeah, from what I understand it was a pretty epic beatdown.  Plus I saw a pic of the toe.  Ouch - and he didn't even notice until the Rogan interview.

Yeah, he pretty much out-wrestled Sonnen, picked him up, slammed him down, and pummeled him until the referee stopped the fight.

The toe injury was bad. The bone was sticking out through the skin. I'm amazed the toe didn't come off completely. It looked horrific. You have to give it to Jones, through. He continued with the interview while they were working on his foot.

Yeah, dood is tough.  It was sideways in the pic I saw.  Like, it looks like it popped off and someone just sorta quickly stuck it back on.  He'll be out for a minute while that heals, heh.

And it's a real statement when you dominate someone at their own game like that.  Sonnen said he didn't even know how Jones did it.

They probably did. The bone was popping out whe Rogan first noticed it. It looked vile.
And it's a real statement when you dominate someone at their own game like that.  Sonnen said he didn't even know how Jones did it.

I'm guessing Sonnen didn't bother to look at any of Jones' previous fights. Jones has overpowered wrestlers from the start. He tossed Hammil around like no one has ever done. He beat Hammil down, broke his ribs, dislocated his shoulder and would have won the fight if it wasn't for the illegal elbows. He crushed Matyushenko, threw him to the ground, and just elbowed him until the referee stopped the fight. Jones also outwrestled Bader to get the shot at the belt, and Bader was the next big thing. He is a strong wrestler who also has knockout power. Jones man-handled him like Bader was a child and choked him out. Rampage, who most people don't realize has great wrestling, wasn't able to stop Jones from taking him down. Hell, Rampage has one of the best sprawls. Most people can't take him down. Jones had no problem.

Jones has overpowered everyone he has fought. The guy has insane strength. It's not just his wrestling, it's also his strength. He has some serious power. He may have to go to heavyweight in order to find people he can't overpower. But yeah, Sonnen should have seen some of Jones' previous fights. It would have helped him realize that even though Jones doesn't have the same level of wrestling skill as he (Sonnen) has, Jones' strength more than makes up for it. Heck, just go back and watch Jones suplex Bonnar over and over. Bonnas looked bigger than Jones. He had more muscle. He got destroyed. Jones has gotten much bigger.

I hope Jones heals up fairly quick. I'm sure it's going to take some time before he can start training again. Hopefully it isn't too long. I really want to see a Jones VS Gustafsson. From what it seems, we'll probably see Gustafsson VS Machida first. That should be a really good figh as well. It'll be interesting to see how Gstafsson does against Machida.

Yeah, Machida is sorta on a comeback right now, right?  It's gonna take a while for Jones to heal up, though.  And there's not much he can do other than some weight stuff with a toe that damaged.  Sucks.  Oh well, at least he delivered again.  Too big, too fast, too strong and too good for anyone in the LHW division.  I would love to see him fight Silva but I have a feeling it'd suck.  Silva's takedown D isn't awesome and if Jones isn't intimidated then I can't see him losing to a smaller guy no matter how jukey he is.

Yeah, Machida is sorta on a comeback right now, right?

He knocked out Bader, and he beat Henderson by split decision. While the knockout of Bader as pretty good, he didn't look as agile as he used to be in that fight. He seemed hesitant, and the hit that took Bader out looked as if it was luck. His fight with Henderson was boring as all hell. Seriously, split decision? You know Jones would have wrecked Henderson, but it would have been entertaining. Machida seems to afraid. He is way too cautious now with guys that have knockout power. He was hesitant in the Rampage fight also, and he lost that one. Shogun definitely broke his will in their fight.

Im betting he would be just as hesitant in a Jones rematch. It's why I wouldn't want to watch it. Machida would be too scared to seriously engage Jones. It would probably go the distance with Jones winning by decision because Machida kept running away.

It's gonna take a while for Jones to heal up, though.  And there's not much he can do other than some weight stuff with a toe that damaged. Sucks.

They already fixed his toe up. Now he just has to heal up. Hopefully it isn't too long. I imagine that he will have another fight by the end of the year.

Oh well, at least he delivered again.

Dude, out of 19 fights, he only has 3 that ended in decision. Every other fight, except the Hamil fight, ended in either K.O., T.K.O., or submission.

Too big, too fast, too strong and too good for anyone in the LHW division.

So it seems, but there are still some really good fights left at LHW. There is Gustafsson, who Jones wants to fight next. Glover Teixeira is supposed to be good, or at least that's what all the hype says. There is also the Chance that Cormier drops to LHW to fight Jones. And if we're really lucky, Nick Diaz will ask to fight Jones.

I would love to see him fight Silva but I have a feeling it'd suck.  Silva's takedown D isn't awesome and if Jones isn't intimidated then I can't see him losing to a smaller guy no matter how jukey he is.

You telling me that you would not have fun watching Silva get taken down and beat down? Jones took Sonnen down. He will slam Silva to the mat, and since he has such a long reach, Jones will just do what he does... elbow Silva until he either knocks him out, or the referee and Silva's corner stop the fight.

Unfortunately we won't see that fight. Silva is way too afraid. He would rather fight a smaller GSP than Jones. It's a good business decision. The unbeatable mystique of Silva would get crushed by round 2. He wouldn't be the numbr one guy on the MMA fighter rankings. He would lose sponsors to Jones. That's why Silva keeps on saying he would fight Jones for ridiculous pay, such as 50% of the UFC.

Yeah, a lot of peeps say Machida lost a step after Rua beat him down.  I can't see a rematch with Jones being any kind of good.

They already fixed his toe up. Now he just has to heal up. Hopefully it isn't too long. I imagine that he will have another fight by the end of the year.

Well, he is young and in awesome shape.  That makes a difference when it comes to healing.  He just needs to stay out long enough so it heals enough that he doesn't re-injure it.

Dude, out of 19 fights, he only has 3 that ended in decision. Every other fight, except the Hamil fight, ended in either K.O., T.K.O., or submission.

Yeah, he's awesome.  And the Hamill fight should have been a friggin' TKO.  Stoopid ref.

I dunno.  It seems like Jones has really beaten the top of the division.  But hey, if he thinks he's still got work to do I'm down with watchin' it.  I'd like to see him and Cormier.  Cormier should be able to make the cut, too.  He's not a big HW and most of his weight is flab.

Dana needs to make Diaz/Jones today.

I just think it'd be over too fast.  Takedown, elbows, death.  Too fast, too easy.  When ya get all pumped for a fight like that it's sort of a let down when one of the guys chumps out.  I think Silva would get destroyed.  Badly, too.  But yeah, Silva is too smart to take that fight.  Maybe if it's his last fight before he retires, though.

Yeah, a lot of peeps say Machida lost a step after Rua beat him down.  I can't see a rematch with Jones being any kind of good.

He did. Machida hasn't been the same since Rua knocked him out. It happens. Rashad hasn't been the same since Machida knocked him out either. Unfortunately for Machida, he has a chance to fight Jones again, but no one wants to see the fight. He was beat in a pretty devestating manney. That standing guillotine was amazing. Machida was completely out. I don't even think his face hitting the mat woe him. The ref had to wake him.
Well, he is young and in awesome shape.  That makes a difference when it comes to healing.  He just needs to stay out long enough so it heals enough that he doesn't re-injure it.

Yup. Reinjuring the toe would be pretty bad. Hopefully he does try too much to fast like Rory McDonald. If Rory wasn't so adamant about getting bck into training, we could have seen McDonald VS Condit 2.
Yeah, he's awesome.  And the Hamill fight should have been a friggin' TKO.  Stoopid ref.

It should have. They really need to re-evaluate MMA rules. Right now they are just based off of boxing rules, which is stupid because MMA isn't boxing, and the types of injuries, moves, and stoppages you can get in boxing are very limitted compared to what you can get in MMA.
I dunno.  It seems like Jones has really beaten the top of the division.  But hey, if he thinks he's still got work to do I'm down with watchin' it.

I think we need to see Gustafsson VS Machida before we can mke that call. I'm betting it'll happen. With Jones injured, and out until who knows when, Dana is going to want to put Machida, who is supposed to be the number one contender, in a figt to make some money off of him. Now the question is, will Machida take the fight? Gustafsson destroyed Rua in their match. Machida may be a bit scared of that, even with Segal and his teachings of the deadly, and totally original, front kick.
I'd like to see him and Cormier.  Cormier should be able to make the cut, too.  He's not a big HW and most of his weight is flab.

Yeah, most of his weight is flab, but that is the problem. They guy isn't Big Country, who has flab, but has damn good cardion and awesome knockout power. Cormier runs out of gas too quick. I don't think he has the dedication to cut all the way back to 205.
Dana needs to make Diaz/Jones today.

I want to see this fight so bad, I'm willing to start a Kickstarter to fund it, and put up a petition on We the People to get Obama to used his dictatorial powers to force Dana into making this happen.

If Silva is really as good as everyone wants to think, he should be able to put up a fight. I think it would be intertesting. Jones would win, probably by 3rd round TKO, but it would be fun to watch.
But yeah, Silva is too smart to take that fight.  Maybe if it's his last fight before he retires, though.

I don't know. A lot of these fighters keep fighting well after they should have stopped. I think Silva will do the same. He'll eentually get beat. Come back for a rematch, and get trounced. Fight other guys, win some and lose some, and end his career by beating some old has-been.

Jones' camp seems like the cautious sort so it should be ok.

Even with the rules in place the fight should have been stopped.  Hamill was done and getting pummelled.  The fight was obviously over to everyone - including Hamill - other than the ref.

I think we need to see Gustafsson VS Machida before we can mke that call. I'm betting it'll happen. True, there's some question there as to whether or not he'd have the heart to cut.

I want to see this fight so bad, I'm willing to start a Kickstarter to fund it, and put up a petition on We the People to get Obama to used his dictatorial powers to force Dana into making this happen.

I bet if you We the People'd it we'd get enough signatures.  Just think about all the delusional Diaz fans out there who're stoned enough to think Nick would win.  Hell, why not have Silva fight both of 'em at the same time.  That may actually be interesting.

If Silva is really as good as everyone wants to think, he should be able to put up a fight. I think it would be intertesting. Jones would win, probably by 3rd round TKO, but it would be fun to watch.

Meh, Silva is gettin' old and Jones is way bigger and has awesome wrestling.  Silva is used to none of that.  There's a chance it could be over pretty quick - and I'd say it's more than a fair chance.

I don't know. A lot of these fighters keep fighting well after they should have stopped. I think Silva will do the same. He'll eentually get beat. Come back for a rematch, and get trounced. Fight other guys, win some and lose some, and end his career by beating some old has-been.

That would suck.  It'd be nice to see someone actually go out on top for a change.  Hell, Sonnen wants to fight Wandy next.  Why the hell is Wandy still allowed to fight?

Yeah. Machida got punked by Jones.  Too bad nobody wants to watch it happen again.

It'll happen. Even if Gustafsson beats Machida, Machida is till one of the top LHWs. He'll be around for a while. If he beats Gustafsson, he gets to fight Jones. If he loses, he may not get another shot for another year. There is talk that after the Jons VS Sonnen fight, Silva told Dana he wanted to fight either Jones or GSP. Some people are suggesting it is Jones he wants to fight. It's also the fight that Dana really wants to make.
Of course, there is the chance that Silva saw the beatdown Sonnen got at the hands of Jones and dropped a load in his pants.
Jones' camp seems like the cautious sort so it should be ok.

True. The Jackson camp is pretty good and keeping there fighters safe. It also seems that Jones can return in two months.

Even with the rules in place the fight should have been stopped.  Hamill was done and getting pummelled.  The fight was obviously over to everyone - including Hamill - other than the ref.

Yeah, but the rules in place dictate who should get the win when a fight is stopped. Because of the rules, Jones lost the fight. He hit Hamil with illegl elbows, but that wasn't what made it so Hamil couldn't continue. It was the broken ribs and dislocated shoulder that prevented Hamil from fighting on. Because of the illegal elbows being the reason the ref stopped the fight, the win went to Hamil.
That's the talk.  I heard Machida asked for it, too.  He wants to fight now and that'd be the guy.  Dana will probably make it happen.

It should be interesting to say the least. Gustafsson, though tal, doesn't have the reach of Jones. He does, however, have long legs, which he likes to kick with. It'll be an intersting fight.
True, there's some question there as to whether or not he'd have the heart to cut.

It's possible he'll have a heart attack trying to lose the flab. I can't imagine his heart is in good shape considering his weight.
I bet if you We the People'd it we'd get enough signatures.  Just think about all the delusional Diaz fans out there who're stoned enough to think Nick would win.  Hell, why not have Silva fight both of 'em at the same time.  That may actually be interesting.

Because Wandi makes for a viscious looking punching bag. Sonnen should be able to wrestle him to the ground and finish him. Wandi isn't Anderson. Once Sonen starts the ground and pound, it'll be over.

Damn, that's a fast turnaround for a toe that was mangled that terribly.  Good news, though.

Meh, if the ref would have been watching the fight the rest of the world was he'd have stopped it before Jones decided he had to try something different to get the finish.

Yeah, it could end up pretty cool.  If Machida decides to go more karate than wrestling it could be a pretty exciting fight to watch.

It's possible he'll have a heart attack trying to lose the flab. I can't imagine his heart is in good shape considering his weight.

Yup.  He could just up an' die tryin' to drop a couple pounds.

I'm sure it would get more than enough signatures. Diaz fans would think Diaz woul win, and Diaz haters would just want to see Diaz get killed on live TV.

You could bill it as bipartisan.

Sonnen just knows he'll never be a champ so he's tryin' to make money.  Can't blame 'em, really.

I think Jones will wait around for the Silva fight... and pay. I think it'll happen. It would be the fight to break PPV buy records for the UFC. Dana will get it. It'll cost, but it ill eventually happen. Maybe if the UFC stopped putting Silva as the top P4P fighter, Silva would be more willing to fight Jones to reclaim that title.
Let's just hope that Silva decides to do it before he get older and slower. He is already at a disadvantage. If he doesn't go for it now, he'll really get a beatdown.
Damn, that's a fast turnaround for a toe that was mangled that terribly.  Good news, though.

The article says that it was just a "dislocated" toe. That was one nasty dislocation, though. Still, I'm willing to bet that the Jackson camp will take extra time to rehab him properly, which is good. It gives him the chance to return at 100%, and it allows time for some other fights to happen.
Meh, if the ref would have been watching the fight the rest of the world was he'd have stopped it before Jones decided he had to try something different to get the finish.

There are currently no rules tht mandate the ref pay attention.
Yeah, it could end up pretty cool.  If Machida decides to go more karate than wrestling it could be a pretty exciting fight to watch.

He may have more of a chance if he goes for a more karate approach. Gustafsson is a big strong guy. He pushed Rua around easily. Machida didn't do that in either of his two fights. If they get into a wrestling match, Machida might end up on the wrong end of some great ground-n-pound.
Yup.  He could just up an' die tryin' to drop a couple pounds.

Yup... and it's too bad. Cormier shouldn't have gotten so out of shape. The guy is winning fights, but it's mostly because his opponents have been worse than him. I'm surprised Mir didn't take it to the ground. I think Mir could have broken something had they gone down.
You could bill it as bipartisan.

I'd call it "The fight to Teach Congress How to Work Together!" The undercard would have politicians fighting for some of those redistrubuted tax dollars they hate to take.
Sonnen just knows he'll never be a champ so he's tryin' to make money.  Can't blame 'em, really.

You never know. Weidman may actually pull off a miracle. Weidman seems confident. That is something his previous opponents, besides Sonnen, have lacked. They have all been afraid of Silva. Silva has pretty much won the fight before the first bell even rings. Weidman doesn't seem to care about that, and that is good. Look at what Sonen did the first time to Silva. If Silva gets knocked off of the champion spot, Sonnen can swoop in and maybe have a good shot at winning.
And then it hurts the next morning.

Nah, I'm not the type to drink too much. A light buz is enough for me. I get to enjoy my drink, and have a good time. No hangovers the next morning. I got a pretty quick buzz yesterday, though. I hadn't eaten anything all day until I went to eat and drink. I had no breakfast or lunch. I got to eat around 5:30. By that point I was starving. Beers tend to get you faster when you are drinking on an empty stomach.

Well since Jones won't put himself ahead of Silva that probably won't happen any time soon.  But yeah, if Silva's gonna do it now's the time.  He ain't gettin' any younger and he's obviously already dealing with some mental problems - as evidenced by his apparent desire to hang out with Segal.

The article says that it was just a "dislocated" toe. That was one nasty dislocation, though. Still, I'm willing to bet that the Jackson camp will take extra time to rehab him properly, which is good. It gives him the chance to return at 100%, and it allows time for some other fights to happen.

dood, it was dislocated into a non-humanoid shape.    But yeah, it's good that some other fights may come about because of it.

There are currently no rules tht mandate the ref pay attention.

If only this weren't so terribly obvious.  Judges seem to be immune from any rules like that, too.

He may have more of a chance if he goes for a more karate approach. Gustafsson is a big strong guy. He pushed Rua around easily. Machida didn't do that in either of his two fights. If they get into a wrestling match, Machida might end up on the wrong end of some great ground-n-pound.

Yeah Machida is better with space.  Crowd him and he has trouble.  I just think it'll be more exciting to watch two guys with great kicks go at it.

Yup... and it's too bad. Cormier shouldn't have gotten so out of shape. The guy is winning fights, but it's mostly because his opponents have been worse than him. I'm surprised Mir didn't take it to the ground. I think Mir could have broken something had they gone down.

I was surprised that Mir lost considering how bad Cormier looked in his last fight.  Then again, Mir sucks.

I'd call it "The fight to Teach Congress How to Work Together!" The undercard would have politicians fighting for some of those redistrubuted tax dollars they hate to take.

I'm in!

True, a lot of guys fight his mystique more than they fight him.  Still, he's a great fighter and it may take more than one try to sort him out.  He doesn't like to give more than one try, though.

Yeah, eating first is imperative.
