| #2EscherEnigmaFeb 10, 2010 13:00:14 | I'm pretty sure it'd be a CoC violation to answer your question. |
| #3lhockeeFeb 10, 2010 13:01:45 | I'm pretty sure it'd be a CoC violation to answer your question. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that this thread itself is a CoC violation. ![]() |
| #4eratoFeb 10, 2010 13:05:34 | The_Shazamazon is might be gone. But that poster have had many different accounts before, and is likely to make many new ones in the future, if he hasn't already. However, I believe we're not allowed to discuss previous posters, or reveal the new name of a banned poster, so you'll just have to guess yourself. I've found it to be pretty easy, when you know what to look for. |
| #5zombie_babiesFeb 10, 2010 13:22:07 | I'm pretty sure it'd be a CoC violation to answer your question. Yes, yes it is. |
| #6aboleth11Feb 10, 2010 14:05:37 | I'm sorry I didn't know. As thread creator, I officially close this thread forever. |
| #7mynameisjakeFeb 10, 2010 14:52:00 | I'm sorry I didn't know. As thread creator, I officially close this thread forever. You have to cast summon monster I and choose "orc." |
| #8zombie_babiesFeb 10, 2010 14:55:55 | I placed a request in the VCL Request Thread to have this closed. The best way to prevent any escalation now is to simply sit tight and don't post here. Whoops .... ![]() |
| #9The_SilverswordFeb 10, 2010 15:43:09 | you do realize that telling people not to post here is like an open invitation to see how many posts we can get in here before its closed? |
| #10EscherEnigmaFeb 10, 2010 15:46:20 | I'm sorry I didn't know. As thread creator, I officially close this thread forever. Officially? What, are there forms now? Do we have to put in for a Post Deferement with our local government? Is there a 509-Bt Schedule 17-A I should have received in the mail? Do I follow steps 1-17 or steps B-Delta4? |
| #11EscefFeb 10, 2010 16:00:41 | I'm sorry I didn't know. As thread creator, I officially close this thread forever. Don't forget to file your I-D-ten-tango. |
| #12zombie_babiesFeb 10, 2010 16:01:34 | you do realize that telling people not to post here is like an open invitation to see how many posts we can get in here before its closed? Of course. So long as these new posts have nothing whatsoever to do with the topic presented in the OP, it's all good. It's still best that this thread be closed before the OP is revisited. Until the, shoot for the stars and post whatever nonsense you wish. Try to set a record, even. What-evs. ;) |
| #13EscherEnigmaFeb 10, 2010 16:02:31 | I'm sorry I didn't know. As thread creator, I officially close this thread forever. I can never properly fill that one out due to this weird PEBKAC thing that keeps happening... |
| #14EscefFeb 10, 2010 16:05:52 |
Yeah, a similar problem occured with one of the office workers I had to deal with. I need to contact someone in the VA about correcting my DD214, it says I participated in OIF 3 times instead of once. |
| #15zombie_babiesFeb 10, 2010 16:12:16 | Yeah ... letters and numbers ... an' stuff ... |
| #1618DELTAFeb 10, 2010 16:34:49 | I'm sorry I didn't know. As thread creator, I officially close this thread forever. What about 18DELTA? IBTL.;) |
| #17bone_nagaFeb 10, 2010 17:11:07 | 89delta? |
| #18Robin_HoodlumFeb 10, 2010 17:27:49 | No. He isn't gone. ;) Oh, and I'm sure he can't help but feel touched that he left such an impression on so many people. He wouldn't have wanted it any other way... |
| #19mynameisjakeFeb 10, 2010 17:47:12 |
Yeah, some things just keep coming back. Herpes, for instance. |
| #20Robin_HoodlumFeb 10, 2010 17:56:35 |
I would get that checked if I were you... |
| #21bone_nagaFeb 10, 2010 18:18:20 | You know, you would kind of think that this mysterious persona might be loathe to reveal himself, especially following a conversation before he got banned (again) discussing the possibility that someone might have it out for him and be reporting his posts constantly to get him banned while ignoring other individuals breaching the CoC just as often if not more. |
| #22mynameisjakeFeb 10, 2010 18:33:50 | Speaking entirely theoretically of course, and not about any actual person, living or dead, and certainly not currently on the boards, why would he bother being sneaky? He's pretty much demonstrated that he can return with impunity. Why not be blatant about it? All it costs him is a new name and 5 minutes to reregister. Edit: And given what I've seen, such a mysterious personae doesn't need any help getting banned. He or She or It seems proud of it. It wouldn't surprise me if he/she/it made objectional postings deliberately, just for the thrill of getting away with it, despite the repeated bannings of this wholely hypothetical and fictional person. |
| #23EscherEnigmaFeb 10, 2010 18:38:51 | And not to mention that if this theoretical poster is honestly earnest in his convictions (and all evidence points to "yes") then why should he hide? The righteous only serve their enemies when they hide in the shadows, no? Admittedly, after so many times you might suspect they enjoy the validation of being a martyr, but still. If you honestly believe you're right and just, you should feel no need to hide in the face of (perceived) tyranny. |

If you honestly believe you're right and just, you should feel no need to hide in the face of (perceived) tyranny. You say "tomato," I say "troll." *singing* "Let's call the whole thing off!" What amazes me is that it is apparently impossible for the forum moderators to actually enforce their rules and prevent an entirely hypothetical person from continueing to post. I actually thought they had some measure of control, no matter how slight. Obviously not. |
| #25EscherEnigmaFeb 10, 2010 18:57:49 | You say "tomato," I say "troll." When someone has demonstrably consistent viewpoints, consistently gets into arguments about similar topics, and so-on, they're not a troll. They're just opionated and not very skilled at keeping their discussions civil. What amazes me is that it is apparently impossible for the forum moderators to actually enforce their rules and prevent an entirely hypothetical person from continueing to post. I actually thought they had some measure of control, no matter how slight. Obviously not. Why does this amaze you? An IP-ban is problematic, and an account-ban is toothless if the person doesn't care. |
| #26ian.thomsonFeb 10, 2010 18:59:19 |
Mod is dead? |
| #27mynameisjakeFeb 10, 2010 19:19:37 | What amazes me is that it is apparently impossible for the forum moderators to actually enforce their rules and prevent an entirely hypothetical person from continueing to post. I actually thought they had some measure of control, no matter how slight. Obviously not. Simple ignorance and naivitae (sp?). I know better now. As for the definition of "a creature that lives under a bridge," genuine belief isn't a sufficient defense. How and where you choose to make your arguments matters as well.
Nope. Just impotent. |
| #28EscherEnigmaFeb 10, 2010 19:43:23 | As for the definition of "a creature that lives under a bridge," genuine belief isn't a sufficient defense. How and where you choose to make your arguments matters as well. Exactly. And when someone starts new threads to discuss topics they want to discuss, give a different viewpoint on topic in a discussion, and so-on, they're not a troll. Controversial? Sure. But being opinionated about controversial topics shouldn't be sufficient to be labeled a troll. |
