It's hard to say. There are a few really good video games. Like damn good video games.

But if I had to choose a few: Metal Gear series, Assassin's Creed series, Devil May Cry series (except the second one, what the hell was wrong with them), Call of Duty series, God of War series, X-Wing/Tie-Fighter series (I know they're old, but I still break out XvT once in a while, there just isn't anything newer to replace them), Rocksmith, I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

Eh.  I've mostly been reading god damn gay erotica/mystery novels today.  Sure, they're trashy and the plots are lame, but they're pretty fun reads.  Though it is kinda weird to see what women think men think like.

Goddamnit!
Can I get a Saturday off?!
Gotta goddamn work today... another damn Saturday shot to hell...
Well, at least I'm still playin' tonight. We started some Xeno's World at War game last weekend and hope to finish it tonight.
Also, just got a copy of Sid Meiers Civilization: The Boardgame.
Looks interesting, but daunting...

Also, if any of you enjoy board wargaming, below is a link to a site that you will like. It has a lot of reviews and sneak peeks at games, and I go there everyday.
www.consimworld.com/

I haven't really gotten into strategic-level wargames (except Risk but that's really basic, not sure if it even counts). I do like me some Star Wars Miniatures Battles (West End d6 version, not the WotC version, and likewise with the RPG) but that's a skirmish game.

I tried to play Axis and Allies one time. My friend who owned it said the rules were really complicated if I just read through the book so he would explain them as we played through (so when I bought some ships he would explain naval rules, etc). Pretty soon I realized that he was making up/changing rules on the fly and then I got pissed off so we never finished the game.

They're not at all complicated.  Seriously.  They only get complicated when you add in the optional rules.

Yeah I realize that now. He was just trying to exploit me not knowing the rules so that he could change them in his favor, but when we both do the exact same thing and it's working completely different for him than it is for me, it was time to throw the BS flag down.

And I just want to point out that the Xeno Games version of A&A, called World at War, is 1000 times better than HASBROs garbage.

Sure, but World at War is better!
The war starts in '39, and France and China are actually in the game, neutral countries can be invaded and have armies that must be beat...
It's just a superior game.

Doesn't it also take longer to play than A&A or is the time about equal?

ADHadh

Mar 25, 2012 17:51:02
I would say it takes longer.
It usually takes us 2, and sometimes 3, Saturday night sessions of 6-8 hours to finish a game...
And the game normally ends when one side or the other realizes defeat is just a matter of time. Sure, we could probably play for another hour or two, but the end result will be the same.

Well, for me that's way too long. I'm not in that type of thinking yet

I think perhaps you have no taste, literally…which is to say I suspect you do not know how to wait for Hot Pockets (or perhaps Pop Tarts) to cool down.

To drink of Pabst is to enjoy a taste that is at once both unpretentious and pure.

These qualities are lost on a tongue so rough it would give a cat pause.

I was only inferring your taste for food-like items from your unfortunate inability to appreciate Pabst.

If you didn’t burn your tongue wolfing down fresh Cherry Flavored Pop Tarts, was it because you were taught to microwave Fruit Roll-Ups before eating them?

I’m really starting to worry about you. Wearing recycled dodgeballs on your feet...

The word "fresh" should never be used to describe Pop Tarts. You are in dire need of a culinary education.

Well, while technically I have WAAYYYY more money than I did back then, now I have a wife, an ex-wife, one kid that doesn't live with me, two kids that do, a house, 3 cars, and a helluva wargame/RPG/Military History Book collection
So, you do the math.
Also, I only really drink on game night, and like I said, I don't buy the booze, and we go for the most, the cheapest.
Like Stalin said... "Quantity has a quality all its own."

EDIT: As far as my taste is concerned... it's as poor as ever.

Deafness or schizophrenia? Because in the latter case I think it's entirely untrue.

Edit: Checked, I was wrong; but the most endangered would be children of both parents ill or identical twins.
