Israel No Longer God's Chosen People

God Almighty, creator of Earth, has disaffiliated himself with the Israeli people as his chosen people, effective at noon tomorrow. The reason, God says, is simply that the Israeli government consists of "too many idiots for [His] taste."

He has already found new clients, none other than the people of the Faroe Islands, which he believes will very likely not cause much trouble in the next millenia. Further, they are "really religious and pretty low-maintenance - but in a good way."

Despite his decision, God says he remains one of Woody Allen's biggest fans.

There's also the possibility that I make fun indiscriminately. Which is what I do. I experience intense joy when acting humorous.

midnitepoison, I think you need to chill out. Nothing in that post was meant as offensive to anybody (except perhaps the Israeli government). You're being offended by it because you want to be offended by it. It's like jokes about the Holocaust or Katrina or dead babies.

Also NB4lock

EDIT: Just because I want to share...

See above. The mockery was directed towards obviously poor decisions on part of the Israeli government. Not the Israeli people, not God, not the people of the Farao Islands and not Woody Allen.

Isn't Israel a Democratic country? This would make it a government run by the people for the people. So, dissing on the Israel government is a dis on the people of Israel.

But that still is the idea behind a democracy. Governing by the people.

"Idea" does not equal "reality."
Besides, to my knowledge, Israel isn't a democracy. It's a republic, just like the United States.

No, not quite.
A republic can be democratic, in the same way that a guy can be girly.
Democratic principles are in there, yeah, but it's not a democracy.

That's the problem. It's indirect. That means the people don't actually have any more say once they elect somebody. I don't call that a democracy. I call that a democratic republic. The two are very different. I'm not saying either is necessarily better. I'm just saying that a democratic republic mostly absolves the people of responsibility for their elected officials' actions if said people disagree with said officials.

It is up to the people to elect who runs the country. The person is in for a term before they are either reelected or someone else is voted in. The people decide who runs the country, the people decide who is in the government, therefor the people are in essence what make up the government.

No. Hell no.

I have to agree with Awesome_Dude here; I mean, think about it. George W. Bush has had some of the lowest approval ratings in history, and even before that, for several years of his presidency, the majority of the American population disapproved of him. And yet, he was still in charge for eight years.

Power to the people, indeed...

The reason he was able to do what he has was because the people voted for him in. Yes, I know it was actually the electoral college that decides this but the people decided the electoral college state by state.

The people also voted in the idiot members of the legislative branch. It is the people that either replace them or vote them back in.

The reason why members of government are able to screw things up is because we the people allow them to by voting them into power.
