I hope that everyone affected, is now safe has adequate supplies, and I wish them a speedy recovery to get their lives back to normal.

I sent him a PM when I first logged in. No word yet, but there is that whole time zone thing to consider. I do hope he and his are ok. I saw some video of what went down and it's ... it's pretty bad.

They were hit with one of the most powerful earthquakes in recorded human history.

It really depends how old the facility is. Nuclear power is a careful dance of scientific precision and runaway physics; and there have been enough accidents to teach us that. Redundant systems are commonplace at such facilities, and it's being attended by highly-educated highly-motivated people who have a tendancy toward thinking long term.
