I dunno. I want to keep my hopes up as I really liked the books. The airships look cool.

2nd Impression: Looks really good, and from what I understand its not just the first book but the first three being put into the movie. The Tharks look a little skinny with those giant tusks but they only showed one quick shot of them. Also, upon a second viewing, if the girl is Dejah Thoris, that Thark (assumed to be Tars Tarkas) is shorter than her! THARKS ARE NOT SHORT! *nerd rage*

Final Verdict: BRAN WANTS IT NOW!

Yeah, green martians are supposed to be really tall and four-armed. If that was a close up of a green martian, he did not look very big. Guess we'll see if there are some better shots in future trailers. Tars Tarkas is being voiced by Willem Defoe.

Looks interesting. I don't remember ever reading the book so I'm at a loss as to how he's flying thru the air like that.

Martian gravity, being lesser than Erf's, allows him to perform superhuman jumps and such... and his punching strength is also increased.
And, being an ex-officer in the Confederate Army (Virginia IIRC), he is an expert swordsman.
...
The books were quite good, I'm curious to see how well the movie turns out.
