The hired candidate will live in a 3 bedroom (with pool, IIRC) house on an island near the Great Barrier Reef. They will be paid apprx $100k (US) to simply do some snorkeling, walk around the place, take pics and film the whole thing. The tour lasts 6 months and some media interaction is also to be expected. It's more like a sweepstakes than a job opening, but Australia feels it will draw people to check out all of the neat-o nature stuff the place has to offer. Apparently they're hurting for small town doctors, so they've been offering to put up U.S. med grads in homes paid for by the government, providing a car for transportation and paying fairly exhorbitant salaries. And most of these places are either right next to or inside of a national park of some sort. And not the "great sandy waste" parks; I'm talking rainforest or great barrier reef here.

I told her, if she wants to take that position, I'll happily be a park ranger. ;)

Hell, I'd apply if I could. Easy money and it doesn't take any work to send in an app. The way my life is now, it would be impossible to take it if hired, though.

I would take it but I don't want to miss a semester or two of college. Money is great but so is an education (especially when it well get me money).

If it was small and fluffy it was a Wallaby. If it was big and sleek, and looked like it was planning to gut you with a paw claw while balancing on nothing but its tail, its a Kangaroo.
