It doesn't much help that I'm sort of obsessed with things draconic... so as it would have to be, I picked up the second volume of the Draconomicon today. paged through it... and while my mind still is resistant to the "changes" to "history" between 3.5 and 4... (still say Io is dead and gone, let him stay that way), that wasn't the issue I had most problem with. I look back at my 3.5 Draconomicon... a singe book encompassing both metallic, chromatic, and a variety of planar dragons, as well as landwyrms and other draconic beasties... and I compare it to the two volumes of 4th ed draconomicons today.  3.5 gave us so much more artwork... overhead views, views of each primary drake as it grew from wyrmling to young, to adult, to wyrm and how it physically altered in appearance (as slight in some cases as that may be)... they gave us bone and muscle structre, they gave us several sample drakes with names and bios for each basic color and metal. Paying 40 bucks each for these new draconomicons, all I seem to be seeing are textboxes with vaguely interesting lore, and stats. The stories and natures and whatnot of what are supposed to be the "supreme beings" of the D&D universe are reduced to a watered down paragraph  or two on each subject.  And there's so little to reinforce just WHAT these bad boys really are supposed to look like. am I alone in being disgruntled at the skimping of artwork that seems to be going around now, save for the chapter splash pages?
