Great.  A Superman II reboot...

So many other more interesting options than Zod.

I just don't get the Zod vibe from this guy, he looks more Riddelerish to me.

I do however have fond memories of my girlfriend giggling uncontrollably in the theater when Terence Stamp used that line all those years ago..... that meme got a lot of mileage.

It may not be a reboot. The last superman movie wasn't. It has potential, I think. It all depends on the plot and the director.

I also found it interesting that Kevin Costner is his adoptive father in this one.

I know.  But the choice of villain is odd, at best.  Zod is a more obscure villain, and Superman II was very good, but there are just so many more options than rehashing Zod.

Maybe for the special effects it will work because Superman is essentially fighting himself.  But even Bizarro would have been more interesting (or at least different) and given us that.  Lobo would have been phenomenal.

That is true. However, I think you are being to hopeful with Hollywood writers. They would have to be creative for that kind of stuff. They like to play it safe. It's as if they have a formula for writing movies. Get popular character1 + pre-used villan1 +damsel in distress +special effects + massive PR campaign = multi-million dollar movie.

I would have rather had other villains. Lobo would have been great.
Darkside would have been good too.

That was the only part of that movie I liked...
When Zod says that...

"Kneel before Zod!"
It still makes me smile...

I was under the impression that this was going to be a continuation of the last superman movie. I didn't realize that this was going to be a re-boot. Well... that just took my expectations for this movie down a few pegs...

That would make for an interesting movie, but it would require that the writers have an imagination.

You just explained the only way they could ever get me watch a Superman movie again.  Lobo as baddy would be awesome.

This thread reminds me of a D&D game.  See, somehow we had a guy name his character Neal.  We had another guy decide to name his character - a Drow - something like Za'adrjgnwertjght9qh - Zod for short.  Once this was discovered (it was not planned), Neal always went before Zod in the party's travels and, if the DM forgot, it was as simple as 'Neal before Zod!' to get it fixed.

Ugh.  That is so bad there is no way that you could have made it up.

Superman vs. Doomsday, now that would be quite the spectacle.

While this has been overdone to some extent (almost as much as Batman vs. Bane), I would not be surprised if this doesn't happen in Superman 3 or 4.  They need some foundation first.

Superman's Death (coma) would be a great way to restart the franchise. In Superman 2, he could get an new (black) costume and a Emo attitude because he is still traumatized from the Death (coma) and discovering even him has limites.

Sure, and maybe they could bring Shaq back as Steel.

The original Doomsday storyline is really good.  The 4 incarnations of Superman would do well on the big screen.  I prefer the darker, harsher Superman myself.  But I think that the last Superman movie did a pretty good job re-igniting the interest, although from what I understand, Smallville has evolved into one hell of a series.

That's not funny. Don't even joke about that.

Also, apperantly the new movie is going to take place before he goes off to work at the daily news or whatever the news paper he works for is called. It takes placeearlier in his life and killing him or putting him against Doomsday would be too early. It would mess up any future possible storylines... not that I expect those to be any better...

As long as Green Lantern doesn't suck, I really don't care what happens to Superman.    GL is my second favorite superhero (next to Deathstroke) and June 16th can't come soon enough.

Thor is the next hero movie I really want to see.  I've always liked Thor in the comics.  Green Lantern was also a favorite of mine, but the new costume for the movie kinda bugs me.  I'll probably still see it, though.

I'm a life long Superman fan and was excited to hear they were going to reboot his movie franchise, until I heard Zod.  I'd love to see a new Superman movie that isn't a rehash of the Christopher Reeve movies.  Superman returns puts Lex at the head of another realestate scam, just like in Superman: The Movie.  Now we have general Zod.  I'm underwhelmed.

I'm hoping GL is good too.

Me too.  I'm looking forward to Thor.  It looks like they did a good job of staying true to his comic book origins while giving him a nice update.  I wasn't sure they could pull off a Thor movie.  Then I saw the previews and it looks promising.  So I hope it's good.  Being a comic nerd, I'm in my glory with all these superhero movies.
