Layoffs

Jul 02, 2009 1:57:10		So my workplace just had a wave of layoffs and now I'm at the bottom of the totem pole. If another wave of layoffs happen, I'm sure to go. What should I do?
  • A - Work my ***** off and make myself indispensable.
  • B - Prepare for the worst and start looking for new jobs.
  • C - Give up and prepare my unemployment papers.
  • D - Just go with the flow...
  • E - Stop visiting DnD forums while at work.

Jul 03, 2009 1:19:35 		Just moved from graveshift (where I have plenty of free time to work on my campaign and browse the forums) to dayshift (where I'm going to have to work my ass of like a normal person). Does this alter my options?

Jul 03, 2009 14:49:10 		I've survived a few lay offs so here's my advice. Work faster not harder. I worked with machines in my old job. The trick is to work the machine and not let it work you. That goes for any job though. Do your job thoroughly but look for quicker ways of doing it.

I'm really not sure what kind of work you do but use your time wisely. Always look busy even if your not.

Jul 03, 2009 18:19:34 		Word around the workplace is that the employees laid off were given a six month severence package. Six months paid w/ benefits to find a new job... I think that's pretty good.

Speak to your Union about getting a reduced minimum wage mixed with company shares to the value of your existing wage based on your productivity.
