| #1subsistcyberJul 02, 2009 1:57:10 | So my workplace just had a wave of layoffs and now I'm at the bottom of the totem pole. If another wave of layoffs happen, I'm sure to go. What should I do?

In this order, I think. |
| #3subsistcyberJul 02, 2009 2:35:24 | Ooooh... E - That'll be tough to do. |
| #4subsistcyberJul 03, 2009 1:19:35 | Just moved from graveshift (where I have plenty of free time to work on my campaign and browse the forums) to dayshift (where I'm going to have to work my ass of like a normal person). Does this alter my options? |
| #5dirtyfrankJul 03, 2009 1:21:36 | Not really. Though you should probably always be working your ass off while preparing for the worst. |
| #6IdolisJul 03, 2009 14:49:10 | I've survived a few lay offs so here's my advice. Work faster not harder. I worked with machines in my old job. The trick is to work the machine and not let it work you. That goes for any job though. Do your job thoroughly but look for quicker ways of doing it. I'm really not sure what kind of work you do but use your time wisely. Always look busy even if your not. There it is, hope that helps you. |

| #11subsistcyberJul 03, 2009 18:19:34 | Word around the workplace is that the employees laid off were given a six month severence package. Six months paid w/ benefits to find a new job... I think that's pretty good. |

Speak to your Union about getting a reduced minimum wage mixed with company shares to the value of your existing wage based on your productivity. |
| #13subsistcyberJul 04, 2009 9:23:05 | That would be a major paycut. |
| #14subsistcyberJul 04, 2009 9:30:18 | Besides, union contract is the reason why layoffs at my workplace are based on seniority. |
