Does anyone else see the similarities?
1.You start out with weapons that are tier 1, then get tier 2, and get more items, such as the various bombs , and pills and adrenaline.
2. It is a fundamentally cooperative game with a group of four fighting through enemies to acclomplish goals.

3. Common infected, while trivial by themselves, can become a threat due to large numbers and/or  extenuating cirumstances.
4. There are various  Special infected which are more powerful, and the tank is somewhat like a BBEG.

5. TPKs are rare (when playing normally) but they do happen.

Thoughts?

Also if this is the wrong forum I apologize.

That pretty much describes most co-op games, doesn't it?

I suppose, I've been playing a lot of L4D2 lately and just thought about it. I can't really think of any other 'co op" games that are widely played though.

Eh.  I think it has more in common with other gauntlet-style co-op games then an RPG, but it can certainly fall under the umbrella if you're generous enough.

How about a L4D2 themed 4e game?

That is a terrible idea. Why would you want to ruin Left 4 Dead 2 like that?

I do think a zombie apocalypse RPG would be a cool idea, with special infected like in L4D2. I would have a field day statting out all the guns :D (I'm a gun nut in the academic sense, I doubt I'll ever actually own any).

If you don't own any, how can you claim 'nut' status?

... yeah, that'd probably do it.  It'd help if 'pew-pew' was his catchphrase, too.

Pew-pew is better.  It has the outside chance that some goofball chick will think its cute.  Bonus.

So why do all the readin' if'n ya ain't gonna buy?  Is there a reason you don't think you'll own any?

Just get a nice lil' handgun. You can't really say you know firearms 'til you shot one.

I don't know, there's certainly a chance I will, although  not for a while lol.

I have shot a gun though, a 1911A1 and a Mini-14.

Hmn.  Good point.  Even if you had a great DM, great players, and a great L4D2 storyline, it still wouldn't compare to the thrill of finding and shooting the witch in the head because you can.

Any suggestions?

Don't make it 4E. ;)

That sounds like almost all table top RPGs ever made. Nearly all of them have zombies and about all of them that have zombies have special undead as well. Make every monster a zombie and bwamo you got your zombie apocalypse.

Although some already got zombie apocalypse and guns in it like, what is it called, savage worlds?

You're not Batman enough to use "Bam".  Or "Kapow".  You may get away with "Zot", but I'd have to see you in action attempting to use it to be sure.

Is there a reason you don't think you'll own any?

'cause I'm in California.  This is a "may issue" state, IIRC, and that's the reason I'd want a gun in the first place.

Yeah, Cali is tough on gun owners.  Really stops the gangs from doin' harm, too.

I haven't played L4D(2) but Dias Ex Machina did release a free zombie adventure (Biohazard) to showcase their Amethyst 4e supplement.
