#1 guest742122278 Dec 30, 2008 5:41:14	A score years has passed since we first were introduced to the legendary Drow ranger of Icewind Dale, and since then we have seen about 4 trilogies and 3 quadrilogies involving Drizzt. And here and there throughout the years we have seen only minor glimpses of him in video games, and the recent graphic novel adaptations of the book series and not a hell of a lot else. This whole thread was brought about by a Youtube video i saw not too long ago that was an animation student's short that was about Streams of Silver, and was fairly well done (though was in black and white and had no voice work). It was so well done in fact that i was surprised to find out that the student had no intention on making an animated series about Drizzt. I began to dwell on what a TV series based on the Legacy of Drizzt would be like: would it be an hour long live action drama on G4 or Sci-fi (only if Sci-Fi stops making hellishly awful movies), or a cartoon or anime style half hour long show in which each season encompassed each book or trilogy in the series. So i'm curious about what other fans think. If there was going to be a Drizzt series on TV, what would it be? and for kicks and giggles, who would you cast as who, whether for voice talent or playing an actual role. Most of the actors i like are all independent and probably not on anybody's radar.
#2 eshenaleros Dec 31, 2008 13:51:00	I have to say, your right that Drizzt should get something like this. it would probably start at the beginning of where it all began, in Menzoborranzan... anyways, I always viewed Drizzt's adventures like anime, and I think It would be better suited to that. However, I have no Idea who would voice act.

The actor that would best play him would have to be short and small build. No matter what races the actor is they will all have to wear body paint to get the drows skin color right. I'd say Jet Li if it was a movie or Tim Ross (Tuvok) for TV. Hallie Berry as the cruel High pristress first duaghter with the snake whip.(Briza I think was her name) Jada Picket-Smith/Viena Oprah / Matron Malice Wee-Man / Regis Miley Cyrus/ Cattie-Brie HHH / Wulfgar

(And that is taking into account that you did not mean a Dragon Ball Z or the Dragon Ball GT film.) Though, if they were planning on making the Legacy of Drizz't series into a film or film series, I doubt they would really finish it, seeing as how many books there are. Just like there won't likely will ever be a Wheel of Time film series.

Agreed, and as for voice casting for Drizzt, I would almost have to predict Johnny Yong Bosch. He seems a bit sought after when people are dealing with characters that are either whiny, un-masculine or conflicted (Renton-Eureka 7, Lelouche-Code Geass, Vash-Trigun for some particular examples I've seen).

Blizzard could do a damn good CGI movie if they ever decided to go into that stream of creativity. Whatever you think of their games they make damn good cutscenes. Also, the guys behind the little Crystal Shard animation on youtube now work at Blizzard for their CGI.

Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising (you can watch it on youtube) was MUCH!!! better than the two films. So, wrong, I say. If blizzard could possibly screw up a project so that it was worse than the two D&D films made, I might agree. Otherwise, your just blowin' steam. At this point anything that was D&D franchise and decent would be good. And blizzard has excellent creative departments. I would be on board. Edit: Plus they already did with the d20 WoW pen and paper RPG. No nerd-rage there.

Since you would have what would likely be a pretty damn awesome CGI movie and first good D&D movie. Then you would have silly nerds ranting and raving and not watching it, while us who don't care about WoW can go see our movie in peace.

#32 thibb Jan 08, 2009 12:55:11	Discussions about who should play dark elf series' characters always make me shudder in fear. I felt like vomiting in rage when someone in another site suggested christopher walken as drizzt. If a live action movie is made, you have to have unknown actors or atleast non-hollywood actors who understand the material. Hollywood actors would ruin the movie, expect the Battlefield Earth of fantasy. When hollywood actors 'deign' to do 'geeky, niche' films they always have that air of smug condescension that disgusts me. Or they will overact, or treat the movie like cliched 80's bare-chested sword and sorcery. D&D and the dark elf series is a subtle story, full of mature characters. But expect a d&d movie to have the subtlety of a sledgehammer. D&D has not gotten any respect in comparison to other fantasy storylines, and that's probably not going to change. I think animated is the way to go. What I said is just my opinion. And I know D&D is not technically 'one' storyline.
