#1 thorbardin Apr 25, 2012 5:27:55	Are there legal implications in creating utility/helper apps for tablet or mobile devices that reference a given rule system other than the d20 OGL of 3.x?  I imagine so which is why there is such a dearth of the these kind of apps available, but I'd respect other viewpoints - especially an official one. Thanks for your time.
#2 bone_naga Apr 26, 2012 18:54:08	The OTT really isn't the place to post this. You might try Digital D&D or Community Business or GSL. That said, you can absolutely make some sort of app for any edition of D&D. Plenty of people have done exactly that. The only place you will get in trouble is the data within the program. If it is something like a combat tool, no issues. If it was a combat tool that included every published spell or power, that would be a problem. Likewise you could make your own character builder, but if you populate that builder with WotC material, you are going to be in trouble. Of course, if it does require certain published material in order to function, you can always let users add that in themselves (such as by making a character builder that required to user to populate the data for classes, spells, etc).
