| #1kurakaiFeb 20, 2009 19:24:32 | Alright I am trying to figure out any legal issues there might be for a project I am going to start working on. I know all the contents and information / ideas about Dungeons and Dragons are copyrighted but it is still a great game to play with friends. I don't plan on stealing anything and what not but I am planning on making a DnD IRC Chat Bot that is meant for helping out players and DMs during a session that is online and through IRC. However the issue with this is that all the data will have to be taken from the books and what not to get it working. This includes all the numbers and even the information. I am not planning on ripping everything word for word out of the book but sometimes it has to be done. Descriptions of certain things such as spells and creatures are really the main issue. Anyways if anyone can help me figure this out, hopefully who knows legal information or someone who works on the inside. This way I know everything before I get a phone call or have people knocking on my door saying I am getting sued. Also just so you guys know I could also put in a contract type agreement before anyone is able to use the bot. It could pretty much say all the information this bot uses is copyrighted by Wizards of the Coast LLC and what not. |
