Sue Jones-Davis, who played Judith in Monty Python film "Life of Brian" is now mayor of the welsh town of Aberystwith. Good for her

However, the former actress then discovered, that in a bizzare twist, a 30 year old local by-law banned her one big-hit film from being shown in the town she is now mayor of - on grounds of blasphemy

She is trying to get the ban lifted. But, the fact that the film, regularly shown on British TV, available in every video store and on countless DVD's arround the world, is still banned in a small welsh mining town

so much for it being the 21st century!

This movie doesn't make fun of Jesus. It makes fun of those people, who were outraged by Passion for being so brutal. Yeah, I know Life of Brian was earlier, but portraying crossing as not a big deal was even earlier.

They should look into getting a Bill of Rights over there.

As a Christian, I don't see how the movie is blasphemous. Brian is not Jesus. Jesus is actually in the movie, up to his usual Chirsty antics. Nothing mocking about it.

Unless it's because they said Jehovah.

Is it a surprise that a movie that makes fun of fanaticism is boycotted and banned by zealots? Anyone who has actually seen the movie, or has a sense of humor knows the movie didn't blaspheme Jesus himself, or portray him in anything but a positive light (for the whole minute he actually appears in the film), but has a lot to say about people who don't think for themselves.
