I think this might be in the wrong catagory. Anyways,I am a inexperience player that really wants to try out D&D out. Obviously, I can't play DM because I am not experienced enough, but I am very high spirited and can play on weekends for 2-4 hrs. Please reply . This is my first thread,Thanks.

Well,it could be on any IM service. Example: DM@examplemail.com: You approach a swamp blocking your way, what do you do? Player1@examplemail.com: I draw my sword just in case something attacks us. Player2@Examplemail.com: Is there a boat or a bridge nearby? I heard it online,so I thought its probably a good thing to try out with people miles and miles away. DMs can use eletronic dice rollers and if a player objects, the DM can give a screenshot. I think its possible, especially with the SRD and such. |

It's hard to get everyone scheduels to mesh. Perhapes you would be interested in Play By Post gameing? Similiar to what you described, but using forums like this one. This board has alot of people that do that. Click on groups at the top of the page (left of forums and chat) and search for Play by Post Haven or Real Adventures. |

The problem is that its not real-time.WEll,at least theres some delay between the fourms and the connection. I find that IM service might make it more social, faster and less of a hassle. |

Your best bet would be to talk to people you know who keep the same hours and have the same work shift, or look in chatrooms for people who tend to be on at the same time as you on a regular basis. Good luck. |

Its a free program, includes an IM window, and you can also display maps and tokens to handle combat, track initiative, and once you learn the basics of it theres a lot you can do, including macros to automate a lot of combat. If you just go with a basic IM setup then you're missing out on a lot of the tactical aspects of the game. I realize that doesn't really help you find players for a game, but it will make the game easier once you do find a group. I've been using it for a little while and I love it (although its been a couple months since my online group has played |
