At first, there was this trailer:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=R10ljA0-sHs

It was hilarious, and looked like a really funny movie... but it was apparently a prank trailer.

That is, until I browsed through the "Upcoming films" for the local movie theater and saw this:
www.pathe.nl/acties_events.asp?item_id=2...

(Yeah I know you can't read the page; just watch the trailer)

Sooooo.... anyone intending to watch this? It looks and sounds like something hilarious and awesome.

I want to see it.  Back when it was first introduced as a fake trailer during the Grindhouse thing Rodriguez and Tarantino did, my friends and I all though it would actually make a pretty awesome movie.  When it was announced, we were pretty stoked.

EDIT: Here's another link to an actual trailer for the real movie.  The first one in the OP is the one from Grindhouse when it was just part of the Grindhouse experience and nothing more.  Still good, though.

EDITEDIT: Sept 3rd release date in the States.

I loved all the Grindhouse trailers, so when I heard that they were going to actually make Machete, I was very excited. We saw a few trailers in recent movies and my wife is possibly more excited than me since she loves Michelle Rodriguez and thinks its extemely hot how she's in a bikini and (pressumably) kicking ass.

So yeah, we're both quite excited.

Yeah, MichRod is pretty hawt.  I like how they got Alba and Deniro to do it.  That's just awesomely funny.

I'm honestly not a huge fan of M-Rod's hotness, but I do like her generic tough girl image and her typical characters. But she's probably one of the wife's hottest actresses which has much to do with her badassitude.

Now Jessica Alba is hot although kicks much less ass and typically sucks. And you can't forget Steven Seagal is going to be in it!

Meh.  Looks too over-the-top violent and gorey for my tastes.

Yeah, Alba is hot but that's all she's got goin' on.  M-Rod is hot and plays cool characters.  Liked her in that Resident Evil thing a lot.  Hell, I even liked her in The Fast and The Furious.  Heh.  I really want to see it cuz of what it is, though.  And for the style.  And Danny Trejo is always awesome.

How I forgot about him I just don't know.  I do hope he breaks someone's neck in it.  That'd be awesome.

Yeah, since that's largely what is was meant to be, you'd probably be best leaving it alone.  It's a joke but part of the joke is the gorey nonsensical violence.  You probably also wouldn't like The Expendables cuz it's pretty gorey and 90% violence.  Again, that's the point so if ya don't get down with that, it's just not for you.  And that's cool an' all.

I think the only way you could go more over the top is to bolt a minigun to a motorcycle and ramp over an explosion. Oh, wait...

Meh, that's over the top, sure.  But what would be really over the top is if they, like, had this hawt chick who, like, loses her leg and then, like, totally replaces it with an M16 complete with grenade launcher and then uses the launcher to catapult herself into the air.  Man, if they did that ... oh, wait ...

Grindhouse was awesome.    And that's why I fully believe Machete will be cooler than poop.

I always thought it was 'sink-o'.  Cuz, you know, the proper celebratory proceedings for said holiday involve a sink full of mayonnaise.

Was I the only one who, when the scene came up in Deathproof where they got rammed and the girl with her leg out the window got it knocked off, yelled out, "Hey, anybody got a machine gun?"?

That scene made me so happy! I hate when people stick their feet out the window.

Man, I should go home and watch Grindhouse tonight... too bad the DVDs didn't come with the fake ads.

I vaguely remember thinking it.  It's been so long, though.  Damn them were some good movies.  When the dood starts cryin' an' stuff after the chicks fight back has to be one of the funniest things ever.  And the broad gettin' her leg removed is pretty damned sweet, too.
