#1 Ragnar_Lodbrok Apr 25, 2009 21:55:05	Okay, I'm sure you've all heard of the incredibly well-preserved baby mammoth they found up in Siberia, aye? If not, here it is. Since it might be possible to clone this one (and even if the DNA is too decayed, it may be possible to fix the gaps with the DNA of the mammoth's closest living relatives), I have a major question to ask: Should they succeed at cloning the thing, would you train in spear and atlatl to hunt one and eat it?

But bringing back a species that got weeded out my natural selection seems wrong to me. Expecially since it would serve no one. I rather have them work on altering chickens to make them yeals more meat an eggs than bringing it back. Also, a human with a spear vs an elephant. yea i think i can figure out whos going to win that fight :P

Due to the fact that fossilized mammoth skeletons have been found with flint speartips in em, we know that they were a staple food source to early humans. And I didn't mean one human. We're basically pursuit-oriented pack hunters.

Yes i know that a pack of peaple could bring down an elephant, but why train to use a spear when anyone could just pick up a rifle and blow a hole in its head

The climate changed too fast for them to evolve, and humans spread faster than they could learn to fear us. As for being no use, 76 oz steaks are already a hit, imagine a 40lb steak. More variation in our diet is a good thing. As for the OP's question, I totally would. I'd be lining up around the block to taste some of that possibly delicious mammoth meat.
