You don't buy a 60 thousand dollar vehcile and actually use it for anything SUVish.

It's there for the got rich trailer trash. People too stupid to know better.

But yeah, these things are still really popular - especially with the younger rich that have families. Maseratti is a name that brings great status with it even today. They make beautiful, capable vehicles that tend to be a bit on the insanely techy side (cuz, as BMW and Ferrari (why did they go that way? meh) are wont to display, techy means quality or something). Really, they're likely hoping they'll get wealthy buyers that want something outside of the stuff traditionally bought in their circle. In other words, when someone talks about their BMW/Merc/Porsche/whatever, they'll be able to say 'oh, well I just bought a Maseratti and it's simply deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiine'.

Sep 17, 2011 16:44:35 Most SUVs I've seen are driven by soccer moms that have no clue how to park. Very few people really go off-road with SUVs here. THe few people I've known that have gone off-road have done it by accident.

Pfft. When I traded in my minivan, I took everything out of it and packed it all into my new Little Red Rollerskate - all my tools, my Rocky gear, my emergency supplies, everything but the gorilla suit. (That had to go down in the basement closet because there wasn't enough room for it in my bedroom.)
I like my current clown car just fine and have no intention of trading my nice functional hatchback for a useless spoiler, some ostentatious chrome or a flashy paint job.

See, the reason why I'd never drive an SUV is that I have absolutely zero use for an offroad vehicle - I don't have any reason to carry big gear or cargo around and I don't do anything on a regular basis that requires off-road capability. And I'm the type of person who couldn't drive around in a $60,000 H3 just because it's flashy and expensive without having to shoot myself for being a pretentious -tard.
Of course, there's also the general principle of absolutely refusing to spend $80 on a tank of gas, especially when I can't go a whole week without having to refill it.
(Besides, my nice little yellow "Soccer Mom In Trunk" window sign looked so much better on a minivan anyway...)
