Obama was not competing against any other programs as far as I know. In comparison the Olympics opening ceremony attracted 34.2 million, the American Idol final in May pulled in 21.7 million and the February Oscars broadcast to 31.6 million. McCain is currently scheduled to accept his party's nomination on the same day as the NFL kickoff. Now we don't know what time he'll speak because Gustev changed a lot of the scheduling. NBC will be showing the convention after the NFL game. The highest rated NFL game last year was at 22 million viewers and was not the kickoff. (The Superbowl was watched by 97.5 million in case you were wondering.) So do you think McCain will beat the NFL ratings? I should note that McCain's aides have talked about doing the acceptance speech on Wed. in which case he would not be competing with the NFL game. There is also the possibility that hurrican Hanna will hit the East coast on Thursday further changing schedules.

Meh as much as I do not like the Neo cons I doubt the hurricanes are a message to them, saying that is about as bad as that one preacher who said Katrina was gods punishment on New Orleans.
#4 Phobos Sep 02, 2008 11:40:41	I skipped Obama to play on a MMORG raid. I will definately skip McCain if its a real NFL game. I skipped the Olympics to watch Sci-Fi reruns of Stargate SG-1. I guess I wasn't even aware when the Oscars were on. At 38, American Idol just has no appeal to me.

Funny, I don't recall hearing that in my Sunday School classes way back when. Oh, here's some interesting info on some Atlantic storms and their dates of origination: Hanna: 8/28/08 Ike: 8/29/08 The Dem national convention started Aug 25 2008 and ended the 28th. Mayhap god is after a different group of people? ;)

I live in Florida and someone I go to school with was complaining that she had to postpone her wedding due to storms. Who has an outdoor wedding in FL during hurricane season? Do people have no comon sense at all?
