Dec 25, 2010 9:12:12 Tell us of your Christmas role playing experiences. What was the session like. What RPG did you play? Was Santa good or evil. What about his elves?

It ended like it usually does, with my little sister mad and screaming and the game not actually being a lot of fun because monopoly is frankly, a very bad game.

Ah well, it makes my family happy, they seem to enjoy it (minus the sister)

I agree....

But...
When I was a guest of the US BOP, we played some hardcore, cutthroat games of Monopoly. And they were sorta fun. The most fun I ever had playing Monopoly to be honest (not that I play Monopoly a lot, because I rarely ever do. Actually, the last time I played was easily 10 years ago).

Freaking Monopoly marathons!
There is only one guy standing when the game is over!
There is no pity, no stalemates, and no IOU's.

But then again, look where we were playin!

I did run an AWESOME Ninjas and Superspies game (Palladium) in there. People who had previously never even heard of RPG's were playing, and absolutely loving it! And most of the guys playing were older than me (I was in my early twenties).
We didn't have dice though. But we constructed a spinner that could be used.

Dec 25, 2010 11:36:22 (If I still really played RPGs) There was no Santa. The elves ambushed the party after removing the caravan guards acting as sentries. All who weren't killed in the raid were trussed up, brought back to their camp, and sacrificed.

Dec 25, 2010 11:56:26 I played a cyberpunk christmas game a few years back. Santa was a corporate, and all the toys he gave out were programmed to release a new bioweapon on new years day. He was set to make the company a boatload of money selling the cure, but things didn't work out quite like he'd planned. Funny what a small group of dedicated individuals can do to upset things. When his plan ended up costing the company a lot of money, he was terminated.

Dec 27, 2010 21:39:14 In my modern horror/fantasy game players bind spirits of heroes and monsters from many, many mythologies to themselves to get power to fight Lovecraftian eldritch horrors. They also interact with mythical beings on a regular basis.

Well Kain (from the Bible) ended up accidently killing Santa when he thought he was getting robbed. He had to fill in for the night whilst Ms. Claus was reading a ressurection spell (this happened before...Santa looks a little Zombie-y under the fat suit and beard).

The players had to protect Santa's corpse from cultists of Cthulhu looking to drain Santa's magickal essence to help raise R'hleyh from the depths.

Afterward they could bind Santa's spirit. Santa gave good haste/slow buffs and ice magick.

I did play Borderlands for a bit, though. Not much of an RPG and part of the whole 'more important stuff to do' (spendin' time with the kid) thing, though.
