Im kind of a night owl, and people say I have a poisonous personality.

#12 stealthmarmot Mar 11, 2009 20:01:16	Mine is actually a World of Warcraft joke oddly enough. I played Alliance but my bro played Horde (which made our house a civil war style battleground). Well one time my bro decides to tell me about a quest for the horde involving controlling animals. One of the animals was a marmot, and one of the abilities the marmot had was being able to stealth. Hence: StealthMarmot. The name popped out at me and I just HAD to use it. I switched screen names after having another one for years. The old one was not really appropriate for all the fantasy and medieval style games I loved to play. (Used to use it as my name for this very board. Still no one has guessed my old name...)

#18 Mad_Jack Mar 11, 2009 21:52:09	Mad Jack is actually my real name. Mad is short for Madelyn. What, you never heard of a guy named Madelyn???? Okay, I lied. Mad Jack was one of my first D&D characters years ago, recreated in almost every gaming system I've played, and also sort of my "alter ego", almost a split personality even - the evil little guy in the back of my head who keeps saying, "I wonder what would happen if I pushed this button..." :D I've often used Jack as a real-life nickname/alias as well - Jack is, of course, short (despite having the same number of letters, lol) for John. My first name is Sean, which is Gaelic for John, and my Catholic Confirmation name is also John, after my uncle/godfather. Not to mention, I've just always liked the name. Also, as pointed out by a very bright little girl I once met... If you say Mad Jack as one word (MadJack) seven times, on the seventh time you'll always end up saying "magick" instead... :D

It wasn't until a couple of gaming sessions later that I decided to tell him that James wasn't my real name (Although, I do have to admit that I did like the name, much more than my real name). Ever since then James has been a nickname for me. What's up with Jackpot then? Nothing really special my character just won a couple of times playing the D&D equivalent of Texas Hold'em. At the end of the (in-game) day, I won the tournament prize money.

When I decided to start looking at the wizards forums again everything looked different. The sign-in was different. The forum arrangements were different and the dition stuff was different. It was like I had been asleep and just woke up so I made my new user-name a variation of Rumplestiltskin.

We used to start joking about her being a "Killer GM!!" whenever she started rolling initiative. It migrated to my games, with the players shouting "Killer GM!" whenever I damaged them at all. My games were/are pretty deadly for stupid players, but otherwise fair. I strive for consistency in all things. ;)

'Rake' had a triple meaning for me, being the tool of my trade, the weapon of my choice, and also a term that means 'lecherous rogue'. Though I'm not sure I live up to the latter.

#43 cherubaddon Mar 12, 2009 9:37:28	Cherubaddon was the name of my very first Inquisitor character. Since Inquisitors are always morally dubious, I wanted a name that reflected him as being somehow half-evil. Since Abaddon already stood as pretty much absolute evil both in-game and in RL, combining it with Cherub (angel) seemed like the perfect fit. The Inquisitor himself, by the way, has gotten so powerful that he is now retired. Although I miss the old days...

I thought the name "Dark Strike" looked really boring, and the 'y' made it look cooler. Of course, half the time people read it as "Stryker" for whatever reason.

As I got older and into D&D, well I wanted to name my Human Bard after myself, so I called him "Jhones", dropping the "y" for silliness of course. Well, after that I just started adding the "h" and "y" on since almost any online website you can think of has "Jones" as a screen name already taken, but never "Jhonesy". So, voila! The epic mystery that nobody really bothered to care with much in the beginning anyway is solved!

#55 demiteddybear Mar 14, 2009 18:02:28	Well because normally I would use my alias Lord BoB. which I came up with on a trip to france, I brought a small gargoyle, we pretended that he was guardian of our hotel room, and since powerful daemons are always called lord something, I thought what is the least intimidating name I could think of...BoB, so whenever I went to play laserquest or half-life I always saw people using names like predator or something to try and sound tough and decided to use that and then it stuck and it became my alias. Ofcourse for some reason couldn't use that one on here, so I used a combination of digimon name (demidevimon - my favourite when I used to watch) and my age old teddy bear. :D

I use to use different names online, but after realizing that I tend to take that super-offensive stance online anyway (mostly because all the dumb-asses tend to populate the web, or are using the anonymity to act like dumb-asses), I just started using my title again. :D

She may just want to know some things from a poster or two but rather than asking that person directly you make a friendly thread about the question. This way the person responds and so do many others. They don't know that they are specifically being probed for information.
