A hen and rooster have marital problems, what is so disturbing? The reasons for their problems is silly(perhaps aburd is more accurate) but not distubing in the slightest.

I also think the "Outlander" with James Caviezel looks promising. I enjoyed Star Trek the second time at home, like...a lot! It was just as kewl as the movie theater.

I forgot to mention "From Paris With Love" with Travolta and Meyers. That one is going to be intense.

After the actual end of Evangelion, it was more of a reprieve (Aside from my mom overhearing Shinji's freakout and asking something to the effect of "What are you watching? Why is that girl screaming?").
If it's anything like the manga, Battle Royale.
And it's technically a series, but Kaiba is a sexy show in that regard.
Also Dead Leaves, though that may be a good deal heavier on the mind**** part.

For the "End of Evangelion", I always thought it was much more straightforward than the last two episodes of the series (25+26?). Those are really weird episodes. The movie helped to explain what was going on in those episodes. Have any of you guys seen the remake? Is it any good?
And while I thought "Blindness" was quite good, it didn't seem to mind melting to me. Just seemed to be able the human condition and their savage, brutish nature.

Book? What is this book thing you speak of? I... I think I, it sounds familiar, like something from a dream, when I was younger, back before the internets obssession with all then japanese and crudely animated..... back before a still frame of someone yelling in a foreign language was considered an action scene. I want to rember, I yearn, please, tell me more! You can't leave me here, not like this, not like this....

Also a book. Try reading the American version Burgess actually intended to have published. Per Mr Burgess, the movie was based on the the edited and 'badly flawed' version. ;) Still, I hear tell the movie is damned good. I should probably see it sometime ...

The movie Outlander, originally was titled a Sci-Fi movie with Sean Connery.
I forgot the name, but was 'called' in the stacks...more than likely ESP through a video camera hooked up by internet bandwidth to James, the current star of the flick...in a High Fantasy setting, not religious one (e.g. Lord Jesus Christ in "The Passion"). Don't ask me how, but I did not intend to find it, this DVD found me. Hollywood, watch the DVR video, then come to your own judgement, lest yee be judged.
I mention this to the ladies behind the counter matter of factly, only because I can't pronounce his last name correctly, which you have to admit...
...James Patrick...his middle name is much easier to remember...Jim Caviezel. The dude who made it with J Lo back in the day.
Watched "Year One" last night. Laughed. Excellent. Grade A.
Yeah, "The Passion" was a super cool movie. Cried like a baby and I'm not a very religious person.
"Year One" sucked though.

I'm not sure how I missed this film. It came out awhile ago.
As far as "mind blowing", you could probably turn this forum into another Rotten Tomato, or Ain't It Cool News website, pretty quick. And Will Smith hasn't done too bad with his career and monsters, right? There's more to it, than just the latest abomination.
So in fairness of the (TSR high fantasy spirit) WotC doctrine, and all that enthralls...I'd say, that not every cartoon or comic book type movie, or perhaps the newest special FX type CGI or 3-D thing...*clears throat
..."Outlander" wasn't necessarily the most mind-blowing'est thing to come down the pipeline. But I've heavily desired more Nordic viking films anywhere, I'm a huge fan, so this was right up my favorite History channel lane.
This is also why I try to watch action thrillers; or dramas...with perhaps, some element of action in them. It's why not every film needs a 'monster' of some sort to be scary, nor creepy satanic serial killer, or even lately...a gory visual theme, like with all the Saw (torture) films for instance.
Something has to be said about a film which moves you enough, you'll be thinking about it the next day. That to me, isn't necessarily the escape into a cinematic adventure for a few hours, like CGI inevitably does...but rather, perhaps maybe the more permanent psychological effect, say much more than a temporary escape from life's drudgery?
In a way, even an actor can put you there without the screenplay. I lost track of the inconsistencies in "Dark Knight", but Heath Ledger kept me watching. Same way with a lot of the acting in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Harold Ford", or maybe "Sexy Beast".
I'd also say, the real films which move you at a core level, are the ones you watch over and over again. In this league, a lot of CGI films, which I've seen, are almost laughable when I think about re-visiting them from places like FX channel, or Spike, or perhaps others like MTV...which recently insisted I watch The Matrix again, like...for what reason again? Bullet time?! Babylon AD had a "feel" to it, that just makes me want to turn to it years later...know what I'm saying? But not now.
So having said that, I'm thinking, well...
I appreciate this community turning me on to some ideas about good films to watch. I'll let y'all know what I've seen and give you my honest ideas, as well.
I just saw "District 9" today.
It had a "Cloverfield" feel, which worked so-so for that shaky "Blair Witch" groove, and I'm not sure I really like that vantage point of the Reality camera eye in the first place...but halfway through the film, it slipped into the normally developed story with a more typical vantage point (from the protagonist). That keep me watching.
The end summed up as if it was a documentary (of past events) caught on film, but the plot and character development as a whole, worked for me. It's a really good film, but perhaps a little too mature for younger more impressionable viewers, especially in light of what's happening in Haiti at the moment.

Huh. Not my style at all, but I've got to admit, it has something. Neat.
Movies? Umm, I don't know if you'd call it 'mind blowing', but Dead Man kind of blew me away in the sense that I was all like 'damn, that was a really, really cool movie' when it was over. I finally got a copy for Christmas this year. Maybe I'll watch it again this weekend.
Glad somebody mentioned Paprika. Perfect Blue was also pretty bizarre in all the right ways.
I liked the fact that by the end of Memento, you knew less than you did at the beginning. Dunno if that one was really "mind melting," but it was a pretty cool trick to decrease what the audience was certain of.
As for Clockwork Orange, the book was better... but the movie is very good. My wife hates it, but it's good. When trying to justify it to her, I thought it was important to consider the time at which it was produced. Didn't work to convince her, but it lessened her dislike of it.
