I'm a huge fan of watching DVDs at home. Only problem is... I've run out of ideas!

Seems I've seen almost every superb to decent film from the last 10-15 that is easily accessible. To give you a general idea I would usually not get a film that has a rating lower than 6 on IMDB. Though I have gotten such movies under special circumstances (cult classics etc).

To give you an idea of my general level of desperation: I just ordered The Collector from 1965 (!) which is supposedly a good film.

I would just love some recommendations/tips!

Well, the obvious answer is to start watching stuff made prior to '95.

And don't rely just on the IMDB ratings.  If you come across something that sounds interesting?  Plug it in & decide for yourself how it rates.
Me I love old Columbia, Universal, Republic, etc seriels.  Their IMDB raitings?  All over the place.  And some I think are rated too high/too low.  The reaction many of my friends have towards them? Completely negative.

Since I've been in the mood to see it again, I'll suggest Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - unless, of course, you've already seen it.  Er, even then, watch it again.  It's pretty good.

Ya, that's a pretty good movie.

Since the OP didn't say what he already saw or likes, I'll just suggest movies by some current directors that I've been liking or checking out: Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood, David Fincher, and Darren Aronofsky.

Try this list, either alphatbetically or chronologcially, or maybe this list instead. Ot you could rewatch everything you've alreadty seen but this time with the commentary tracks turned on.

The Last Starfighter

Tron

The first two films to be made where computer graphics were used as actual special effects, rather than just to represent computer graphics.

Can't wait to see Tron: Legacy.

Dood.  This movie is awesome.  Good call, man.

Tron: Legacy has been growing on me.  At first, I had no interest.  The more I see the trailers, though, the more I want to see it.

I agree. It almost makes me want to want the first Tron (to know what's up), even though I remember not liking it.

I'm right there with ya.  I wanna see the original again for the context but don't know that I'll bother.  Heh.

The Chronicles of Narnia series.

If you can find them, you should be able to get the BBC production versions of The Chronicles of Narnia, and see Tom Baker (the 4th Doctor) as Puddleglum in The Silver Chair.
