| #1jhonesyMar 19, 2009 19:24:57 | If everybody else can do it and have their rant survive for a day or two, so can mine. And will I! I'm not going to rant about world politics, tweenie issues or war. I'm going to rant about; NerdRage/NerdEgo. That most ludicrous of all things completely Nerdic. I will first with an easier available example: Deva = dee-vuh? deh-vuh? day-vuh? dee-vay? - This is a classic example of the blending of both forms of Nerd that I wish to rant about. Not only has this thread reduced itself to a ******* contest, it showcases of the inherit rage mechanic all nerds possess when that very susceptible ego has been, even a little, attacked. Whether on purpose or out of a simple miscommunication. These people (ie. Nerds, like the rest of us), have taken their Racial Trait and adapted it to suit their needs. This thread, while meaningful in the beginning perhaps, very quickly degenerated into nothing more then a wasteful debate on intelligence and pronunciation issues. What the heck does this accomplish? To prove who's "right"? To prove who's more "intelligent"? To see who's dragon (or should I say pseudo-dragon?) is really the biggest? What a complete waste of space, time and thought. What could have been an interesting read on how different people could interpret the pronunciation of a word has degenerated into... nothing. Absolutely nothing. Why? NerdRage/Ego - The inability to admit one's mistakes or faults in the wake of exposing weakness to other Nerds, thus dropping your Nerdability down in the social graces of Nerdic. You come off looking... well far worse then when you entered. And this is only a small, single example from this site alone. Post and explain your examples if you wish. The more people who become aware of NerdRage/NerdEgo the quicker we can end my - I mean our suffering. Nerds. ![]() |

I just wanted to make a comment in general that I've noticed a lot of this type of behaviour on this site alone. It's... depressing to think that even Nerds can't get along. :P |

It's nice to hope for people who are more mature, but ultimately, there are going to be some people out there that are incapable of holding a civil debate/conversation. |
