| #1Mad_JackDec 31, 2011 22:42:44 | Professor wants to drop the Gregorian Calendar... His proposal for a new calendar would have every holiday always happen on the same day of the week - if implemented on Jan. 1st, 2012 or 2017, Christmas and New Year's day would always come on Sundays. |
| #2ADHadhJan 01, 2012 7:54:27 | Eh, everyone cares about calendars pretty much once a year :P |
| #3The_SilverswordJan 01, 2012 12:03:37 | we've used this calendar for the last 1000 and some years, why change it now!? Im just now starting to get used to it! |
| #4jetshieldJan 01, 2012 12:10:49 | Because, dispite it's inaccuracy, the new calendar would be more convenient for the guy that made it. Naturally, the rest of the world should inconvenience itself for his sake. What other choice is there? We couldn't, in good conscience, continue to use the calendar we've used for 430 years if it means this one guy would have to do an extra few hours of work because of it. |
| #5Mad_JackJan 01, 2012 12:15:54 | Because, dispite it's inaccuracy, the new calendar would be more convenient for the guy that made it. Actually, his point was that the new calendar would be more convenient for everybody, or nearly so... |
| #6jetshieldJan 01, 2012 12:22:17 | In what way? Who the heck is he to tell me what's convenient for me? How many people actually plan out their entire year in advance? How many of them have exactly the same plan every year? How would it be convenient for me to work every Christmas eve and New Year's eve? Let's take a poll. Anyone who thinks changing to this new calendar would be more convenient for them, raise their hands. |

| #8The_SilverswordJan 01, 2012 12:38:30 | i didnt realize the gregorian has only been used for 430 years, i was thinking it started around 500 AD or ACE or whatever theyre calling it now, maybe im thinking of the Julian calendar, i know the gregorian calendar was commosioned by pope gregor the something or other which is why its called the gregorian calendar, even if he didnt come up with it he just made someone else do it, any way i think a new calendar is a horrible idea especialy with everything having a set day, i like the fact that sometimes my birthday is on a saturday and i dont have to spend a vacation day to get that day off, knowhatimean |
