| #1The_EmissaryDec 19, 2011 23:38:00 | So here's the deal: My DM has EVERYTHING D&D related and I have no idea what to get him for christmas. I have a small budget ($30 or less) and I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help ~Emi |
| #2LFKDec 20, 2011 0:23:44 | Baked goods. Minecraft. Bacon. |
| #3DargurdDec 20, 2011 4:15:14 | More dice - you can never have enough dice ! |
| #4zombie_babiesDec 20, 2011 7:55:21 | Yup. You can even get the really awesome (and I know cuz I have two) stone sets Crystal Caste offers for about $30, IIRC. They're small but they're also neat-o. |
| #5The_EmissaryDec 20, 2011 8:09:17 | hmmm, all very good ideas except he's not a bacon lover (although I found all kinds of bacon flavored stuff on thinkgeek lol!!) and his wife has the amythist mini stone set and he dosn't care for those b/c they're so small ![]() oh, and he has more dice than he knows what to do with (I think hes purchased about 8 "pound-o-dice" bags PLUS all his matching sets) |
| #6mr_handsomeDec 20, 2011 14:35:35 | Chocolat-bacon bars. ... or bacon put to an even better use : www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KRZPRKyv7w You know what they say about a well oiled DM right ... |
| #7LFKDec 20, 2011 15:28:47 | You know what they say about a well oiled DM right ... They have a low coefficient of friction? |
| #8damixmastermikeDec 20, 2011 16:35:22 | More dice - you can never have enough dice ! Although I agree I would just give your DM booze. As a DM I find I give away more loot, story tid-bits and exp. after a few bottles of wine for some reason. |
| #9pigknightDec 20, 2011 16:52:25 | $20 bill. Shows you care. |
| #10The_EmissaryDec 20, 2011 19:48:07 | More dice - you can never have enough dice ! hahah!!! Love it! ...But I'm still looking for the right gift.... ![]() |
| #11mr_handsomeDec 20, 2011 22:12:16 | Damnit. This thread makes me want to play D&D. I promised career focused and socially normal wannabe me I wouldn't indulge nerdy kid me ever again. Oh. And I say a trip to an office supply store. I never had enough of those and it would be even worse now that I've actually worked a real job. |
| #12zombie_babiesDec 21, 2011 8:47:16 | ...But I'm still looking for the right gift.... You wearing only a bow? I mean, you're pretty damned obsessed about this. May as well just get it over with. ![]() |
| #13owaruDec 21, 2011 8:48:57 | Damnit. This thread makes me want to play D&D. Aaaaaaaand... that means you're spending time on the D&D forums... why? ;) |
| #14mr_handsomeDec 21, 2011 11:24:38 | This is like geek porn. I go back to my loyal old office home and family every morning but a man's allowed to fantasize, no ? Yes, that's right, I'm geeksturbating on your words and I've got a pretty solid dork-on right now ... |
| #15The_EmissaryDec 21, 2011 11:45:29 | Don't feel bad, I'm the same way. I think I'm a little too nerdy for my husband :D BUT I did convince him that it's fun and now he plays a game every other week with me...but I'm still the bigger dork ![]() @Zombie_Babies: The reason it's a problem is because I have gifts for the rest of my group EXCEPT him and it's difficult to buy for him because he only likes one thing (well two) D&D and Dragons, and his collection is massive...so how do you buy for someone with limited interests who has everything? |
| #16zombie_babiesDec 21, 2011 11:59:29 | @Zombie_Babies: The reason it's a problem is because I have gifts for the rest of my group EXCEPT him and it's difficult to buy for him because he only likes one thing (well two) D&D and Dragons, and his collection is massive...so how do you buy for someone with limited interests who has everything? Well, you start by returning all of the gifts you've already bought for everyone else. Then you buy a big bow and ... and probably some ice ... and you take my last suggestion and make it a real party. ;) ![]() Seriously, is something silly ok? Like, have you looked into the D&D themed sodas? Something like that isn't terribly expensive or over the top, it's geeky, related to the hobby you share, potentially tasty and - best of the best - something he may share with you. Or ... or you can go with Plan Bow. |
| #17The_EmissaryDec 21, 2011 12:33:28 | lol!! |
| #18pigknightDec 21, 2011 13:36:17 | Get him a baby piggeh. Everyone loves babbeh piggehs!![]() PIGGEH! |
| #19ScynerDec 21, 2011 22:11:36 | What about D&D novels? Does he have all of them? Even the vintage stuff from the 2e days? |
| #20PippaDec 22, 2011 5:32:10 | A cubic meter of crisps - how about that? |
