Moved everyone to 'inactive', I will change them to 'active' when I have a confirmation on their stats.
Active 4th Empire
Armisael (Armisael)
Armisael
Level: 7
XP: 1/5
Home Terrain: Magic
Side: 4th Empire
Attack: 2d6
Defense: 1d4
Special Slot 1: Attack Special tier I - Ego Supra Mundum (Armisael Over The World)
Special Slot 2: Pet Master Tier III - Uranicus Comitatus (Heavenly Warband) (1d8/1d8)
Tier 2 Special: Weird

Sub-Faction: Armisael's Boasters (Focus: Full-on Attack, FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE!)
Other: After defeating a Great Wyrm Red Dragon through a stupid DM's critical hit houserules (Never allow exploding dice. Who would have thought a tiny ruby could cause so much damage?), Armisael saw his confidence (and his levels) greatly boosted, believing that his victory had been due to skill instead of luck. Since then, he has attempted ever more bold and suicidal stunts, with the dice favoring him time and time again. Having heard of the Third Empire making a comeback, he has decided to fight for the Fourth Empire again...and to win the war single-handedly.
Update: After a tremendous battle at Shadowpaw Castle, during which he sustained grave injuries, Armisael was the victim of a terrible transformation, which increased his Charisma Score by 10 points and changed his Paragon Path from Pit Fighter to Androgynously Cute Hero. Additionally, a new member is incorporating itself to the nor more powerful Amerigo Squad.
After the events at the ball, Armisael finds himself prettier (again), and more powerful. Additionally, his weapons have grown in size, and he feels a compulsive urge to stroke them constantly now.

Keywords
Some locations have keywords.

[Fortified]: Add 1d20 to the defense roll.
~~ [Heavily Fortified]: Add 2d20 to the defense roll.

[Arena]: Battles do not change ownership of the location. Instead the winers gain 1 resource instantly. You cannot die at these locations.

[Weird]: Swap atk and def stats. Bonus from specials are not effected.

[Trapped]: After battle is resolved one person on each side dies.

[Lethal]: Losers die after battle is resolved.

[Eternal]: Players can't die.

[Vicious]: Defenders attack as well. Defenders use the attack stat as well as Power Attack and similiar specials.

[Rich]: Worth double the resources.

[Careful]: Attackers use defense value. Although, they still benefit from Power Attack that similiar specials.

Just to clarify:

Armisael uses Weird on TA.

I posted this last week, but TA thought I couldn't do it. Considering how we have two weird per week, it falls under the purview of last week's uses, but I wanted to make that clear to avoid confusion later. Also, first PC post!

Bloody Battlefield of the Bundead War
Attack: Carric's Hawk (old thread, post #1344)

Nymph's Forest
Attack: Bobcat (old thread, post #1354)
Emperor DirtyFrank vi Holy Fourthania (Dirtyfrank) (post #1432)
bought magic missile scroll
Defense: Escher
Daddy

Zuggurat Ruins
Attack: Armisael (uses weird on Toasted) (post #1386)
Defend: ToastedAmphibian (uses weird on ARms) (Post #1387)

Hellblaze Lair
Attack: Carric (post #1409)
Rage (Touch fuzzy) (post #1415)
Undead Fred (Zombie Babies), inflict light wounds, (post #1458)
the Mage King (post #1457)
Defend: Half Dragon Infernal (Post #1416)
Draxlis the Medium Size Chuul (Ellorin) (Post 1424)

I'm including the last few actions, mostly because Pig never officially declared a cut off, and I'm not perfectly sure of when the battles started. Hopefully things will be a bit cleaner in the future.

Anyway, does this look right to everyone? I'd really hate to forget anybody on my first battle post.

Where are you quoting that from exactly? As far as I know, you said after the sunday cutoff that you where going to declare wierd on me after sunday reset was resolved as you belived our fight would resolve on monday update. I said, no, it should resolve on sunday update, and that cutoff has already passed.

Unless I update there's no cut off until the update. Just make sure it's only 4v4.

Unless I update there's no cut off until the update. Just make sure it's only 4v4.

You stated that the 7:00am rule was officially adopted.

Also, here is everything ARM said between declaring the attack, and cutoff time sunday.
Armisael Attacks the Ziggurat Ruins. I get a +1 bonus from terrain, on top of anything else. Bring it on!
Yup. So, that's gonna make it 1d4 vs. 1d4+4. Unless Toasted has a terrain bonus, he autoloses. I like how being a juggernaut feels.
Plus, I get an extra point per person that joins in on your side. At full power, I'm going to have 1d4+7, effectively compensating for being Weirded in a grand fashion. It's probably in your best interest NOT to mass your people, as it makes TA less and less important, while giving my side a huge static advantage.
Yep. It makes me a powerhouse. It might be a malevolent pointy stick of doom that intends to brainwash Arms into a suicidally overconfident braggart, but I love it!
Well, the plus side is that I'm easy to take down, especially because I'm going solo with Infinite Rage.
Annihilate. NEXT!

No, seriously, I've been really scared of that thing ever since we started this thing. If anybody gets that, I autolose my fights, which is just terrible. For reference, I'm fully expecting somone to take that to counter the storm of Ragers. Otherwise, yeah, I'm a juggernaut...but I'll eat a hat if nobody takes that ability come level 10.
The battle resolves on Monday. Guess who gets Weird back by then?
Mostly because Pig hasn't updated yet, yes. You SHOULD be alive already, but Pig's gone.

If it helps, here is the only thing he said since then.
Grats on the promotion, Escher! I'm sure your tenure as the Battlemaster will be wonderful. I'll snatch that first player post now

He implied that he was going to weird me, but never Declared that he was Weirding me.

Point being this ;
I posted this last week,

Shipping refers to the practice of pairing two characters in a romantic or semi-romantic way...

The naming convention is standard for the ship. ToastedAmphibian would be Toast- or -amph (amf), and Hubris would be Hubr- or -bris.

It's been a running a joke to ship characters with each the whole war (well, between some of us) and Pigknight referenced it, so I took it to the conclusion he left open :P

Nah, I hadnt updated anything. Still debating between leaving it a d12, cause its more chaotic and leaves room for aura, plus the extra points in attack help if I get weirded. Yah, I'll probably bump my attack to a d6.
#53

Armisael

Apr 13, 2009 20:54:28
Aura either becomes a sexy 3d4 or 2d8 when you have 2d6. It REALLY pays off to max your main stat. Then again, d12 is swingier and has a higher rate of 12's, so be my guest.
#54

toastedamphibian

Apr 13, 2009 20:55:09
Are we really going to do this letting other people declare things for characters that are not theirs business? Do I need to start campanging for writs of submission now? I think it best that AFK characters simply dont get to play. You must participate to participate kind of thing.

Well, yeah. I'm fine with the results, but that reroll might have been unnecessary. If TA decides to keep the d12, then the reroll is fine, but otherwise, we should go with the first result.

For now he has a d12, and can level up. He has not leveled up yet, and until he does he will be treaeted as level 5.

Ok, I added in the experience from the matches to the stat blocks. Would everyone please check their stat block and verify that things are correct, either in this thread or via PM. Once I have confirmation of people's stats I will move them to the 'active' list.

Once you are in the 'active' list, it is your responsibility to verify that the stats are correct prior to engaging in a battle. If you are inactive for a period of time (I'm thinking 1+ weeks of no activity in the edition war), I will move your stat block back to 'inactive'.

And now I get to go back through the thread and update all the declared attacks.

You know, I should have listened to my father. "Never volunteer". Ah well.

With that in mind... you guys need to attack more. At once. You have until 4 PM CA time to declare more attacks that will be resolved at the same time as the current ones. Though it seems kind of skeevy to me to squeeze in a new attack just under the dead line so it's effectively only one day, rather then two.

Done. Well, editing the sblocks closer is a mostly... it makes the code look hideous so I may have missed some in the first post. The second one... it's just hideous wading through the code, so I may get to it later. Or when my scripts are debugged.

Draxlis the medium-sized Chuul of Low Moral Fiber is just fine(it would only like to state that it's Draxlis, not Draxilis)

Uptated some minor issues( i.e. the subfaction).
Show
Level: 2
XP: 1/5
Home Terrain:
Side: 4th Empire
Attack: 1d6
Defense: 1d8
Special Slot 1: On your feet
Special Slot 2: Craft Item (35%)

Sub-Faction: Monstrous Regiment

Other: It was a dark, stormy night when a group of mad cultists attempted to open a gate to the Far Realm and unleash a nightmarish horde upon the world. Fortunately(or not) for the world the high cultist, being a total miser, decided to cut some expenses by not sacrificing the required 1000 lobsters and replacing them with 1000 caterpillars. Thus, when the spell was cast, only one aberration entered the unsuspecting world: Draxlis the medium-sized Chuul.
Considered eccentric even by its peers, Draxlis is a creature of a curious nature. Upon entering the world, its alien mind was fascinated by mammals, especially on the nature of the mechanism of reproduction that such unnatural, strange, unlikely creatures might employ. Having a true scientific soul, it decided that it should learn firsthand whenever possible.
Every scientific project requires funding, however. At first, it found out what this world's first profession is and attempted to employ itself so. For some inexplicable reason, although highly enjoyable, that plan hasn't resulted in great profit, so Draxlis tries to raise some money by fighting as a mercenary on behalf of the 4th Empire. The fact that some of its rulers look like its relatives works too( for example, the emperor looks like its grandma). EXTREMELY open on interspecies relationships(in the name of scientific progress and search for pleasure).
Leads a squad of hook horrors, kobolds, 2 sphinxes and a minotaur called the Monstrous Regiment and uses its would-be summoner( now a servant-Xfe'rfsek) as a means of communication.

**Since I was at 4/5 XP and level 3 but won my last battle, I will no be level 4 with 1/5 XP.**

Old Sheet:
Level: 3
XP: 4/5
Home Terrain: N/A
Side: Empire (4e)
Attack: 1d12 (3pts): Necrotic Touch. ZB fights with only natural weapons. His touch inflicts 1d10 Necrotic damage and feels as though it is tugging the target's soul from its body.
Defense: 1d4+1 (0pts, Forceful Deflection (+1)): Never one for worrying about death, ZB continues that tradition today. Some find his blatant disregard for his own safety unsettling thus granting him a +1 bonus to Def.
Special Slot 1: Forceful Deflection (+1 Def): ZB's bold, reckless attack style has the potential to distract his foes. Because of this, he is granted +1 Def.
Special Slot 2: Inflict Light Wounds (2/week, add 1d4 to attack): Once per week, ZB can channel his unholy powers into his attack, adding 1d4 Cold damage to the total. (1 pt)

Sub-Faction: Currently, none.
Other: Formerly a mercenary, ZB found that working for the 4e side was generally more fun. So he joined them. Yeah, it's really that simple.

Right then, now that I know how this will be resolved...
Idolis, will Aliforn be helping the Legion Scout and then let the scout have the land, helping the Legion Scout and then fighting it for land, or just be a third side?

Actually, I was going for XP for the little orcess but let's see here, hmmmm.

I have a question. If I decide to fight on the side of the Legion Scouts (I thought there were two of them attacking that territory) and if 4E decides not to fight will I still get 1XP or none?

I was hoping that I could take the territory if 4E decides not to fight the Legion Scout(s) but if not Aliforn has back up available.

Another question of mine is, what does fighting as an outsider mean? Does it mean that if my rolls beat the Legions and seperately whoever, if anyone, 4E decides to send to defend it that 3E gets the territory?

I'm a little confused.

Edit: Strike the first question, I didn't see HDI pet had decided to defend so my first question is moot. But the second is still valid somewhat.

Well, TA brought the question back into discussion, so check out the rules thread for where it may go. But as of right now, you have three options:
  • Go in under the Legion Banner and only the Legion Banner. If the attackers win then Aliforn walks away.
  • Go in under the 3e Banner and the Legion Banner. If the attackers win go into overtime for a 1 day battle to fight the Legion for the Land.
  • Go in under the 3e Banner and only the 3e Banner. Fight against everyone for the land.

We are currently discussing whether or not option two is a good option, it may be rescinded. Please feel free to join the discussion, as I would appreciate more opinions on this.

Pet Master: You control a 1d6 atk/1d6 def pet. If you die your pet does not die. You can continue to control your pet after your character has been killed. A pet can only be revived on Sunday.
~Upgrade: Increase one die by one size.
~Secondary Upgrade: You can spend another point to increase the other stat.
~Tertiary Upgrade: If both you and your pet are in the same battle, increase your value by 1.

(Goes to check rules thread real quick)
Pig said the legion wouldn't use allies, which I think means that even if Aliforn would be amiable to a temporary truce, they would just try to eat her face. I need to get it into the rules that both parties need to be willing. So I think I'm going to have to kabosh the alliance. Does she join as a third faction all-together, or go fight somewhere else?

Carric: Same question.

(If I don't get a response in time, I'll go ahead and count you guys as a third side)

And again, I apologize for the confusion. Hopefully now that we have the rules a bit more formalized the process will be smooth and streamlined next time this comes up.

Actually, there are a lot of inactive players on both sides. They could have lost interest for any number of reasons but if 4E had a full roster or at least as many active players as 3E then the game would be a lot closer.

You're right though. It might be time to abandon her because there is no one to fight. I'm not sure though because inactive players can easily come back and we would be on the downside again.

Meh. Just retire her temporarily. If the balance is shifted by people coming back or new players joining, they'll be low-level. She doesn't have to be high level to make an impact against those players.

Idolis Silvertongue
Idolis Silvertongue

Level:7

XP: 1/5

Home Terrain: Desecrated (+1 to offense and defense on this Terrain)

Attack: 1d10

Defense: 1d8

Special 1: Sheild (1 upgrade) (2/week +1d4 to defense)

Special 2: Pet Master (1 upgrade) (1d6/1d8 Pet)

Special 3: Aura (1/week move allies up the die ladder one step)

Subfaction: The Brokeback Brigade

Other: Idolis lost his wife after she long suffered of some mysterious malady. He joined the 3rd Onslaught after she, on her deathbed, made him promise to do great things in her name. On his first day with the Rebellion he joined the 3rd Onslaught's Commander, Dark Stryke, in scouting out what would become their base and be named Alisha's Tower, named after his wife. Alisha's Tower was controled by an orc and goblin raiders but after Idolis and Dark Stryke defeated them, two goblins pledged servitude to Idolis.

Idolis sent those two goblins into the mountains to recruit more goblins into the service of the 3rd Onslaught. The goblins who came became known as the Brokeback Brigade and through many victories have earned a reputation as well trained warriors.

The Brokeback Brigade have assumed control of the Mines of the Dead and have fortified it against attack. Idolis hopes that someday after the War is over the goblins will establish a peaceful kingdom in those mines.

and yeah, I missed TMK's terrain bonus. I guess I'll go all emo now.

@Armisael

#225

Armisael

Apr 15, 2009 18:43:05
Okay, I never thought I'd make a comment like this one, but that's the most stupid, retarded, and incoherent rule I've ever seen. Seriously, Pig, did you even bother to check your old ruleset before adding that, or thought about the implications? Look at this.

Teir 1 - (4e) 2nd Editia Mercenaries / (3e) Black Knights: Add 1d4 to the value roll.
Initial Cost: 5 resources
Use Cost: 1 resource

Teir 2 - (4e) Imperial Wizard / (3e) Strike Team: Add 1d6 to the value roll.
Initial Cost: 10 resources
Use Cost: 2 resources

Teir 3 - (4e) Warbeast of the Empire / (3e) Treant: Add 1d8 to the value roll.
Initial Cost: 15 resources
Use Cost: 3 resources

Teir 4 - (4e) Adamantine Equipment / (3e) MithrilEquipment: Add 1d10 to the value roll.
Initial Cost: 20 resources
Use Cost: 4 resources

Teir 5 - (4e) Catapult / (3e) Trebuchet: Add 1d12 to the value roll.
Initial Cost: 25 resources
Use Cost: 5 resources

Teir 6 - (4e) Seige Tower and Trolls / (3e Tarry): Add 1d20 to the value roll.
Initial Cost: 50 resources
Use Cost: 10 resources

Fifty resources. And that's just to buy something that is comparable, you have to shell out 60 to use it, just once. This rule doesn't just have to be remodeled, it has to be scrapped and we have to forget that it ever existed. This victory still stands, but that keyword HAS to be reversed, too, and the resources returned. You simply CANNOT get something so cheaply that gives such a massive advantage, and we are NOT transforming the game into resource whoring to see who can cancel the other's terrain advantages. Just no. It's not gonna happen.

Seriously, the new rules is just so unbelievably, utterly stupid, I find it hard to believe it exists. I literally banged my head against my desk when I saw it.

No, really? C'mon, Pig, the new rule is ********. Leave tier 6 weapons as is, they're fine. Massive cost SHOULD be a requirement to get such a bogus advantage. Scrap the new rule and lets forget this ever happened. It makes specials, stats, etc. utterly irrelevant, as the only thing that matters is placing Vicious, then Rich, then whatever on every territory to curbstomp the enemy.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the ruling either. Give us our 20 resources back, remove the fortification, 4E gets the territory? Alternatively, set a reasonable cost for the fortification, and we'll pay it.

Oh, and I think D_S is upgrading his counter attack. I think that puts me at +3, but PK's rules are really ambiguous. It goes +1/3, +1/2, then +1/1, max +3, right?

Level Up!!

Undead Fred
Undead Fred
Level: 5
XP: 0/5
Home Terrain: Desecrated (Tiki Bar)
Side: 3rd Onslaught
Attack: 1d12
Defense: 1d4+1
Special Slot 1: Forceful Deflection tier I
Special Slot 2: Inflict Light Wounds tier II
Tier II Special: Weird

Sub-Faction: Tiki Bar Regular.
Other: Formerly a mercenary, Freddy found that working for the 4e side was generally more fun. So he joined them. After some time, The Empire's warriors seemed to ignore Fred and he became less confident about his place in the war. Toasted Amphibian made a half-hearted effort to recruit Fred to fight for the Onslaught. While this probably shouldn't have worked, Fred's longtime friend (an undead scorpion named Mel - well, actually, her real name is Clamps) has taken a liking to the frog and helped sway Fred's mind. He now fights proudly for 3e though most probably don't know he does. In all honesty, though, he fights for his friends. Mel, TA and Escher. I don't think E considers Fred a pal, but Fred doesn't understand that. And that means he likely never will.

Query: If I upgrade Forceful Deflection, are the effects retroactive (e.g. If I've already spent 4 points in upgrading attack, do I get a +2 to defence)?

Rec levels up
Rec Defriss, Self-Possessed Soul
Level: 2
XP: 2/5
Home Terrain: None
Side: 3e
Attack: 1d10
Defense: 1d4+1
Special Slot 1: On Your Feet tier II
Special Slot 2: Forceful Deflection tier I

Rec moves to help defend Nymph's Wood with the frog.

Yep. An' I have a d12 At and d4 Def so it should work out for me. As long as I get some help. I doubt I could handle both of them things.

I was thinking Aura instead of Weird for Fred, but the idea of having three of us 3e'ers (at least) with the power seemed pretty fun.

the 4th Empire curb stomps the Mage King's minion. The mage king's minion rolled below the minimum for the empire, awarding no experience. (Hrm. Is this actually the first time that rule has come into play? Am I just crazy? I seem to remember a rule like that once...

Yes, there is a rule like that and yes this is the first time it has come into play. It should be more like "less than half of your opponent's maximum" because the only way to roll below your opponent's min is to be alone vs 4 people that are using hella dice and modifiers.

Not true DF. 1d4 vs 1d12+4 is very possible. Like, if some specialist attacks a desecrated location, and I defend using weird.

OK, it's also possible if you're opponent has weird. Another reason to why weird was too strong and still might be.
