Netflix on the Wii?

Aug 13, 2011 0:33:46 So has anyone got any experience with using Netflix over their Wii? Did you use the wireless or go get one of those dongles so you could use cat-5? How well did it work?

I'm curious, you see, because this town I moved to, while three times the size of the town I was in, still has no video rental store. So we're probably going to join the legions of others and get Netflix. But as we only, of the current-gen systems, have a Wii, we'd have to stream it over that (well, when we're both watching, anyway).

So yeah. Just looking for what experience people have with it.

Aug 13, 2011 12:39:41 Netflix is great and its alot better than its competitors. That being said I've seen it being used on a wii but I wasn't sure of the procedures I'll look it up for ya and I'll post it.
EDIT: so apparently you ask netflix to send you a disk and that allows the wii to run netflix.
Also if it doesn't cost alot I suggest you use cat-5 because it'll decrease your buffering times.

Aug 15, 2011 9:57:01 Isn't Wii incapable of running HD? That, like, totally sucks for movies, right? Anyhoo, Netflix can be wonderful and it can also inspire fits of rage. It's difficult for me to find stuff to watch cuz I typically like older stuff and they just don't have a lot of that ready for streamin'. Meh, it's still good.

Aug 15, 2011 19:19:43 I run Netflix through my Wii and it works great. To the point that I hardly ever bother with my movies in any kind of physical media anymore.

I do have to disagree with Zombie_Babies about one thing. I watch a lot of old movies myself and I find plenty of them in streaming format.
