Your misunderstanding the law. Some types of bulbs will be banned in that manner by the law, but both these LED and fluorescents will be legal. It is the incandescent bulb that will be outlawed to make or sell.

Although I can understand the appeal of a LED bulb. We have a big chandelier style lamp in our computer room, and it has 6 bulbs... it serves as central heating for that room. Which we don't really need during summer -_-"

I'd try the LEDs in that fixture. They produce very little heat.

We would've done so if that didn't cost us 120e in bulbs. The only ones available here for the time being are expensive as hell.

Additionally when if pollutes the environment is gets more concentrated as it passes up the food chain in a process called biological magnification and humans are on the top of the food chain. Did I mention the lack proper disposal routes for fluorescents?

Nope. flourescents have tiny amounts of one of the banned chemicals. In 2012 you won't be able to buy or produce traditional bulbs and by 2014 you won't be able to buy flourescents. About the only safe bulb at that time (barring some major scientific advancements) will be the ULED lights...

He's really not that bad. I know I've seen worse. And he's entertaining. Plus it's not like he's totally averse to having a civil discussion about a topic that isn't banned - he does do that. So yeah, he's ok in my book.
