| #1delugeiaJun 17, 2009 18:00:18 | So I decided to go with personalized "vanity" plates. They're cheap in Iowa and only cost $5 extra each year. What do you think?![]() Full disclosure: I don't actually have the plates yet. They were ordered about a month ago. The picture is photoshopped. |
| #2ranadielJun 17, 2009 18:49:39 | Hmm nice. I'm actually thinking of getting one as I need to get new license plates(stupid moving), but I haven't decided on what I want on them yet. I was thinking something like 1024YB. Although now that I've seen yours I might go with ROLAD20. |
| #3That_Blasted_SomoflangeJun 17, 2009 19:11:44 | What do I think? If you're single, you'll stay that way. |
| #4mock26Jun 17, 2009 19:39:54 | Dork. Dork. Dork. Dork. Dork. Dork. Dork. I am so jealous. |
| #5Reg06Jun 18, 2009 3:42:23 | What do I think? If you're single, you'll stay that way. What? Clearly he likes to roll around on dubs. Ladies love them 20" Daytons, it's a known fact. |
| #6ForgemberJun 18, 2009 7:26:32 | I feel a bit like a frosted mini-wheat, my man side is screaming NOOOOO oh GODS NOOOOOO! but my geek side is screaming YEAH thats total WIN! |
| #7zombie_babiesJun 18, 2009 8:10:38 | Yellow? Is that the standard issue color in Iowa? See, in Ohio, the only way to get a nifty yellow plate is to get a DUI. Party plates, you know. :P |
| #8Cpt_MichaJun 18, 2009 8:12:30 | Nice plate. Have to ask, since when does Toyota make a car that actually has a nice looking and not boring front end? What kind of aftermarket kit is that? |
| #91_ton_ghostJun 18, 2009 13:40:25 | Well, you're either very committed to gaming (respect) or fearless .This could possibly be misconstrued by the local PD though, so watch your ass. Anything beyond the factory gets attention, which, more often than not, is something you don't want when driving (speeding, other moving violations, open container, possession, dead hooker in trunk, you know :rolleyes . Your plates are fine, no worries, but for your amusement...Vanity plates: Show -Aggressive, badass "I'm a tough guy" kinda' plates, often lead to much higher insurance rates. It's like the g-rides I love to hate; oversized rims which don't let you corner well, gaudy, over-the-top cosmetic crap on the outside, but nothing really going on in the engine, awesome stereo system that plays less than awesome music...These just scream, "Pull me over, I be holdin' a 9 milli and da' fat rocks!" And they often do, but not for long. These are along the same lines as Jerry Bear stickers on hippy-mobiles (Phish & Deadheads, listen up). Basically, that says to Johnny Law, "Somewhere in this car, there is a joint." The irony is, a lot of these creative & expressionistic types will slap on a F.O.P. (friends of police) sticker, you know, to balance things out. This only draws more ire and the feable Bluff attempt that was just made. The lesson here is if you're edgy, paralegal, doing morally questionable things, whatever, don't f'ing advertise it like a fool. $50 plates often turn into 4-figure legal fees and a cell mate that likes you better as "Nancy". Legally minded, but politically outspoken? Same thing w/ radical political stickers that are surely going to test the sensibilities of the guy you just cut off (who has better insurance), the bleeding heart liberal or reactionary neocon cop having a bad day, or young kids w/ too much time, bricks, and spray paint on their hands w/ a modicum of political bent (cuz' they're gettin' involved man!). The only place we should see your political ID is in the voting booth or over drinks @ the bar. No one is going to brake and suddenly reconsider their party affiliation after reading that you like Obama, Prop 'x', etc. If anything, it can, and often does get your ride keyed or get you the finger. ex) Progressive liberal sticker on your ride in the Deep South is just a'hankerin' for a quick re'edukatin'...now w/ improved, violent rhetoric and beer! -There's a white Countach around UnivCincy we'll see once in a blue moon with, swear to God, "30 kilo" on his plates. Given the sticker price, no surprise. But man, the stones you gotta' have to pull that one off. If you go this way, make damn sure you're free and clear or have diplomatic immunity. -Soccer moms, express your unique individuality w/ something along the lines of your kid's team kicking ass (next to your kid's super achieving honor roll sticker), your much vaunted pedigree as a "MILF" (and advertise it like a low class ho), or a little double reminder to the world about your fav TV show & how equally hip you are (despite your narcissistic handicap) of "FIERCE". You can drive (and talk on your cell) in style now! -Enigmatic weirdos that wish to inspire unusual reactions, why not try a plate that ellicits uncertainty laced w/ fear, "DOD 32R" or "ATF 4"? Not quite a G-man plate, but John Q. Public might not know that! Watch tailgaters back the Hell off double quick. "I C U" coupled w/ extra dark tinting and, say, 2 radial antennae, is like having total insurance coverage. |
| #10zombie_babiesJun 18, 2009 13:55:51 | The best vanity plate I ever saw was a simple one. It read "STEAL ME". :D |
| #11owls_and_more_owlsJun 18, 2009 16:44:13 | That's awesome. If I got one, it would be this: LEVL10 |
| #12EscherEnigmaJun 18, 2009 16:47:51 | Not LEVL11? |
| #13funkyvJun 19, 2009 0:08:10 | I just got vanity plates and I almost went with NAT20 or CRITHIT |
| #14StuntmanJun 19, 2009 18:27:13 | I just got vanity plates and I almost went with NAT20 or CRITHIT I was thinking that "NATRL 20" would be a good one. |
| #15delugeiaJun 23, 2009 19:55:46 | What do I think? If you're single, you'll stay that way. You would be absolutely correct. Fortunately for me, I am not single. It was, in fact, my partner who suggested the idea that won. Others that I'd considered were... JEFFER (taken) DELUGE THEOCDM (the obsesive compulsive DM) NERD 4E FTW HORDE (but I no longer play Warcraft) Yellow? Is that the standard issue color in Iowa? They are also Collegiate Plates for Iowa State University, the school colors are Cardinal & Gold (Red & Yellow). ...since when does Toyota make a car that actually has a nice looking and not boring front end? What kind of aftermarket kit is that? It is the standard front end for the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Thanks! |
| #16turalisjJun 23, 2009 20:22:35 | Should get some with R2D2PWNU :D |
| #17That_Blasted_SomoflangeJun 24, 2009 11:07:08 | I wonder how many people have the plate, Over9000, or variation thereof? Over9K Ovr9000 etc, etc. |
| #18Cpt_MichaJun 24, 2009 11:16:03 | well the sides are still too bland... but at least they finally hired a human being to design at least part of the car.... |
| #19Johnathan_VagabondJun 25, 2009 14:27:58 | Nice, although I wouldn't put it together unless we were stuck in rush hour traffic and there wasn't anything else interesting to look at. If I saw the car three or four times I might realize "Oh, It's D20 Roler, funny." |
