I remember an adaptation of Snow White that was made here., in Québec. Snow says: I have seven dwarfs. One for each day of the week. Depending on my mood.

That's the most popular "retelling". It's probably cliché by now.

The one in armor? Meh. Hollywood is running fantasy battles to the ground now. Nothing to see here.

I'm intrigued. I like women who fight, I like fantasy battles, I'll see this one. I also approve of the reason for having 8 dwarves... "There are some great lines when one of them dies."

I like this better:
How evil is Theron's queen?

"She's a serial killer," Theron said. "I'm pretty much preparing to play a serial killer."

At least she won't need to gain weight for this one...

I'm down with this movie- although I will probably watch on blu-ray when it comes out unless it has fantastic reviews.  I have always appreciated the connection between myth and lore and our current definition of fantasy.  I think it is fun to expand upon and take some liberty with material such as fairy tales.

A discussion where some OTTers did not use the term "little people." You have to be Apolitically correct at all times. Haven't you learned that by now?

I didn't see anybody discussing "porn".
But I'm not surprised you did.

Did anyone else notice that the emblem on her shield was the White Tree of Gondor?

Side note:  Goldy got banned really fast!

So referring to the 1937 Disney movie is "hate speech"?!

Makes me feel like posting the scene from Will Ferrell's Christmas movie.  Oh, sorry: "Holiday movie".

Hell, I'll go see it just to watch Ian McShane as a dwarf...

Little person, dammit!  Unless he's that one type of little person that does go by dwarf, of course.

Oh, and porn.

It always confused me that dwarf is offensive. It is a medical condition, Dwarfism(not proportional) and doesn't describe a midget(proportional).
They are all 'little people', but being angry (or angry on someone elses behalf) is just being low.

It can be offensive because not all little people are dwarfs.  Anyhoo, I was jus' funnin'.

Dang it, do we now have to refer to them ALL as "little people"?!?!

Azers, dark ones, derros, duergar, dwarves, gnomes, goblins, gremlins, halflings, kobolds, meenlocks, norkers, quicklings, spriggans, witherlings, and xivorts all now have to be called "little people"?!?!  That's taking it a little far, isn't it?

I don't think it is.  I may, however, be slightly biased as I am a roiling mass of udead babies - or little people, if you like.  We do.

And don't even THINK about referring to nixies, pixies, and the like as "fairies".
