Yup. New movie has been in the works for a while. After the horrible T3, I don't think I'll look at this one though.

I doubt I'll see it in the theatre, but I'll probably rent it, if only to drool over Bale in the privacy of my own home. ;)

Go buy the Batman movies for that. He even appears in rubber in that one. ;)

And shirtless. Of course, I think The Machinist has the most Bale flesh per frame than any other movie.

I own the Batman movies. But I can get him mostly naked in other movies. :P

But the Machinist was ew. And not even that good a movie.

I'll concede on those points anyway. I guess T4 might be a good source of fleshy Bale too, if past iterations of the movies copy the whole "naked bad/good guy" approach. :P

All I expect is Christian Bale to make a speech after gargling some gravel and tin foil (washed down with whisky and brake fluid), and some giant frakkin' robots blowing stuff up.

T3 was okay. Kristanna Loken kicked ass as the TX, but the T-100 (Arnold) just failed compared to his other two roles as the T1 before. Nicolas Kent Stahl was horribly angsty (I know, some people claim that's the whole point of the character, but it doesn't feel right for JC), and Claire Danes wasn't bad. Eh, it was decent enough, though nothing compared to the first or second.

Bale is an amazing actor though, maybe he'll turn things around. I know I'll rent it at least, just to say that I saw it once.

I have been waiting for a terminator "war" movie ever since I saw the scene of the tank treads crushing skulls during the dream sequences of the very first movie. And that was when it was first released in theatres back in 1984! If you ask me this movie is about a quarter of a century too late!

KGM, you like Bale? Well, all I can say to that is: Oh good. Good for you.

(from the rant Webby mentioned. good stuff, that)

I do find it interesting that an Astrid's FL has the hawts for a dood that beat up his own mother and sister. Allegedly. :P

Anywhoo, if you like Bale, check out American Psycho. The book is much better, but the movie is pretty good, too. As a matter of fact, the author (Bret Easton Ellis) used Bale in his last book. It's titled Lunar Park and Bale keeps popping up here and there. Great read. What was I going on about? Oh yeah, Bale movies. Umm. Check out 3:10 to Yuma, too. It's a Western remake and it's great. Really good stuff.

Oh, and for all you Bale's voice in Dark Night haters out there, check this: It wasn't his idea. The director actually added some of the gravelly effect in post production. Bale spoke as Batman, of course, but it was enhanced after the fact. Quit hatin' on the man's voice. It wasn't even his. Don't like it? hate the director. Dummies.

If you want to hate Bale, you don't need a voice from Batman, all you need is him in real life! Allegedly attacking his mom, needed to be restrained from attacking a light guy on the T4 set after verbally abusing him in front of everyone working on that scene, etc. ;)

Please. I don't keep up with celebrity gossip/arrests/whatever. He's good looking, and is in a bunch of movies I like. He may well be a despicable person IRL, which matters ... not a bit? I'll still see the movies and think he's good looking. Doesn't mean I'd date the man.

And you know what? Frank you for making such a jerk remark about who I do and do not find attractive.

I have both of those movies. 3:10 to Yuma was good until the end.

And I already hate the director of Dark Knight. I though Bale was great as Batman/Bruce Wayne. I just hate what they did to the Joker (but I don't wanna inspire any more fan hate than that :P).

I don't, either. That one was literally everywhere due to its proximity to the release fo Dark Night. AAMOF, IIRC, it happened soon before/after London's premier.

An' I was playin' ya' goof. Hence the ":P". ;)

I thought the end was ok. Sad, but ok. It's a Western. It ain't s'posed to end on a happy note. At least that's how I feel about it. Damn you, Cormac McCarthy! :D

Huh. I really liked Ledger's Joker. I thought I would hate it, but he won me over. Bale as Batman? Best Batman evah! I am partial to Bale, though. Oh crap! Have you seen Equilibrium? Yet another great Bale movie.

Yeah, I forgot a ":P" myself in that one. ;) I tend not to care about someone's personal life in terms of their movie career. I mean, I like musicians who have drug problems, actors who are despicable, etc, and in general people I wouldn't hang out with in real life.

It wasn't that it was sad (3:10 to Yuma), it just seemed ... arbitrary. I just thought it could have been done better.

I wanted to like Ledger, but I really didn't like the movie's Joker. They gave him a point/purpose, which kind of ruined him for me. He also wasn't enough of a "joker" for me. Some scenes really did it (his "intro" with the bank job, the meeting with the crime bosses), but others just fell flat. But I don't want to get into a rant about that. ;)

But Bale is a perfect Batman. Especially after Equilibrium. I liked that movie, but part of me didn't because it was just Fahrenheit 451 with gun katas.

Yeah, I've seen most of his movies. :P

I had a feeling it was a forgotten smiley. ;) Or would that be tongue-y? :D

I find it easy to separate the actor from his skill. I don't care about the person, only what he can do for me. :P Well, except for George Clooney. That pompous ass. ;)

Different strokes, I guess.

That's interesting. See, I went into it wanting to hate Ledger's joker. I think there's maybe one movie he did that I even found to be "pretty good". Seeing it, though, was amazing. He really fell into the role and became the Joker. His Joker, of course, but it was one hell of a transformation and one you'll not see very often. Sure, most actors can act. Some can even act. What Ledger did was beyond that, IMO.

But Bale is a perfect Batman. Especially after Equilibrium. I liked that movie, but part of me didn't because it was just Fahrenheit 451 with gun katas.

Yeah, he's one hell of a Batman.

Equilibrium is one of the few movies I own. It's not hard to guess why, though. I love guns, I'm a martial artist and I really enjoy Bale's work. Heh. :D

Yeah, I've seen most of his movies. :P

Even that dragon one? I've not seen all of it, but what I saw made me not like his role too much. He seemed like a wimp.

Reign of Fire? Yup.

I've even seen his more "sensitive" movies. I think I might have fallen for him in A Midsummer Night's Dream. My husband surprised me by taking me to a midnight showing. Stanly Tucci made an excellent Puck (though I didn't find him attractive in that way).

You dirty girl! :P

That was one moment. My favorite, though, is the ATM scene. When it tells him to feed it a stray cat and he pulls the kitten out and puts a gun to its head. Classic.

If you liked the movie (and not just Bale's bod ;)), you should check out the book. Ellis is one of my favorite authors and AP is one of his best - IMO. I do need to warn you that it's far more graphic than the movie could ever be. I can't even begin to describe some of the scenes. Well, I could. But I'd be immediately banned. ;)

Funny, I really liked Ledger's Joker. It was definitely the darker side of the character, less the practical joker and more the omnicidal maniac. On one hand he was just as batshit crazy as ever, but that he also had a plan... well, it's just the feel of the movies. This Shortpacked! comic explains it pretty well I think (though it was made for Batman Begins, and not the Dark Knight): ShortPacked, June 20th.

*shrugs* He just wasn't the Joker to me. Which, in turn, made Batman cheaper in the movie. Joker always had a plan, and they got that right, I just feel that they gave him a "point" and that shouldn't be the Joker. Everyone else can have a point, but not him.

But as I said, I'm not going to go too much into it again. :P

If the over-the-shoulder reader isn't prepared, it can be kind of hard to explain what you are reading about. The book is a little more crazy (by a little, I mean there's a good reason they cut bits out).
