Coming from as far away as Toronto, even the Mounties have shown up in this small town with a population only slightly larger then 3k-4k+ at the most. Today is a sad day, for Canadians, Police and just ordinary people everywhere. I did not know Constable Vu Pham personally, but I know many who did and they lament his loss to the community. Today is Vu's funeral. www.wingham.com/news/article/86915 ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100311/natio... www.metronews.ca/edmonton/canada/article... www.princegeorgecitizen.com/article/GB/2... |

Just last year a cop was murdered in the line of duty (and it was basically murder, too). He worked in the city I lived next to for a good part of my life. I'd also seen him a few times in the bar my friends and I used to hang out in. He seemed like a decent guy. |

Though the news is saddening, I feel proud to be part of a country where every death of an Officer is reported by the news on a national level; Lest We Forget. The mood in town today is off-kilter though, I shant like to be doing anything that requires detailed attention. |
