There is a confirmed release date for the rest of the world (well, except China and Korea: sorry, guys!)-The Nintendo DSi will hit the US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and anywhere else within those gaming zones at the start of April! And lucky us: we get the DSi a whole THREE DAYS before the US! What luck! Of course, to make up for the fact that the US gets it late for once, they get that cool blue DSi which I guess balances everything out. Oh well, at least I can pick-up a white one (to match my other gadgets).

#5 lawfulgoodgnoll Feb 26, 2009 15:03:06	The Nintendo DSi is an upcoming revision of the Nintendo DS, upgrading the hardware (presumably for some upcoming DSi-exclusive games) and adding a range of features including twin cameras and an SD Card slot. The unit will have built-in applications including photo editing software (a la Game Boy Camera), a customisable music player and the DSi Shop, not unlike the Wii Shop Channel, which allows for download of new applications (many of which are Nintendo-themed); new 'DSiWare', brand-new applications by Nintendo and independent developers (basically WiiWare for the DSi); and, it is believed by fans, a handheld version of the Virtual Console service that has helped the Wii become so successful, the hook this time being re-releasing classic Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games amongst other handhelds released before the DS (WonderSwan?); I read in one forum (I forget where it is) that (/quote) a friend of a games' developer's employee said that Nintendo approached them to get permission to re-publish their Game Boy, Game Boy Color and *even* Game Boy Advance games for an 'upcoming project'. (end quote/) So that's the story on DSi. The US will see it in blue and black on 5th April for about $199 US (I think), people in Europe will be able to pick one up on 3rd April in white and black (I think) for about 150 pounds (sorry, no 'Pound' symbol on this keyboard...and I thought Microsoft had it all...), while us here in (the merry old land of) Oz and New Zealand may grab one for $299 AUD ($375 NZ) in white and black. Oh! Arguably the best feature of the DSi (aesthetically): NO GLOSSY FINISH! It's matte all the way! (that was part of the reason I picked white in the first place-less visible fingerprints) Oh, and by the way, I do NOT work for Nintendo. I'm just a for-more-than-a-decade Nintendo fanboy (although it's so hard getting my hands around the controls, both because I have gnoll hands and because my hands are always bandaged from monster and villager attacks...lol)
