Actually, you can go back through the other thread an notice that I haven't given an opinion on the other thread.
I am curious why you would feel that a family that was obviously so good that their kid was able to get their hands on enough pills to overdose, should recieve any money from others. What happened to personal responsibility? You seem to be doing exactly what you are accusing me of doing. Why is it right what happened to the other kid, but a family that was is so incompentant that they have a junkie son should get your sympathy or money from people who work for it and are able to raise their kids the right way?

So, tell me what is wrong with high school friends of the deceased putting on a fund-raiser to raise money to help the kids family with burial expenses?

His family should have personal responsibility. That was their son. They should be the ones to put up the money for the funeral. If his friends cared that much, they should put their own money up instead of asking others to pay for a waste of life junkie. In fact, his friends were probably with him when he was doing drugs. If anything, they should be willing to put up their money seeing as they are partially responsble.

And while it's possible he was a junkie (if she had the right kind of prescriptions) more likely it just sounds like a suicide attempt, soon to become a successful suicide.

Not sure "junkie" is a fair description considering the limited information.

So... yeah. Depending on the actual details, I can see it either way. If the kid was dealing with a serious illness and chose suicide as the way out, or just choose suicide for any number of reasons, I think the schools going too far. I also think the family should have been more circumspect with what information they made public, but eh.

But if the kid was a drug abuser then, while I don't agree with the schools decision, I can understand it.
