What else did they try? After how many times did they think "yeah, this is useful"? Carl Sagan had something to say about this. It's very profound. But my copy of The Demon Haunted World is in the bathroom and that's much too far away from the living room, so I'll leave out the details and summarize thusly: lots of dudes in the Amazon tried stuff back in the day and it's a good thing there were no laws against it because all dudes had was trial and error and sometimes it did some good. |
