I could not trust them to turn on their own when they go bad and yet they can force you and I to asnwer their questions or go to jail.
I could not trust them to be honest at bat checkpoints if the person they stop has a record og drug use and the cop lies about the driver being under the influence.

dispose of their unions, deny them the 5th while on the clock, and put cop badge number in a hall of shame full of badge numbers from dirty cops and the over zealous ones....

Funny thing is you actually have a point there. When you are upset, the last thing you want is someone telling you to calm down or relax, especially when they don't know what you are going through or are the ones stressing you out.

What I find interesting is that if you - a citizen - are involved in a self-defense shooting, the cops will begin questioning you immediately. When a cop is involved in a shooting, the cops are not permitted to ask the officer any questions for 24 hours. Seems that cops, I guess, are typically considered to be in shock after something like a shooting and that they may say things they don't mean, present a version of events that are incorrect because they are not thinking clearly and potentially set themselves up to contradict themselves at a hearing. Seems also there's been studies done that confirm people tend to remember events of that sort of impact better after they've had some time to settle. I guess us general citizens are better at recalling things after a stressful situation than cops are.
