Meh, flopping isn't relegated to soccer, of course, and the American NBA is rife with it, but still, this doesn't help. The real reason soccer sucks, of course, is that the field is too damned big and it stifles any real action. Duh. ![]() |
| #2ADHadhFeb 24, 2011 14:04:22 | I liked the added sound effect ![]() But yeah, that's a bad thing about soccer. But don't worry, in British and Polish (and possibly other) lower leagues fans are going to make th game violent enough. |
| #3zombie_babiesFeb 24, 2011 14:30:16 | I liked the added sound effect Yeah, that constant slap sound really made the vid pop. Heh. ![]() |
| #4homicidal_squirrelFeb 24, 2011 16:28:26 | What are you talking about? Stuff like this is what makes it awesome. |
| #5pluisjenFeb 24, 2011 17:13:17 | That's what you get when winning is more important then the game ![]() |
| #6grehnheweFeb 24, 2011 18:14:39 | Hilarious video! I agree flopping is lame (in any sport), unless it is done so well that there is no real way to tell. One would hope that in a game without timeouts, reviews, challenges, replays etc., that there are some quality officials who can tell the difference. P.S. soccer does not suck, it is "the beautiful game." ![]() Anyone catch any of the Champions League games over the last week or so? I particularly enjoyed the Barcelona/Arsenal game last week, and my team finally won a bloody game on Tuesday! |
| #7ADHadhFeb 25, 2011 2:16:36 | Of course there's also the other end, ugly stuff like this: |
| #8zombie_babiesFeb 25, 2011 12:10:43 | What are you talking about? Stuff like this is what makes it awesome. Nope. If I wanna see terrible acting, I'll go waste two or whatever hours of my life watching Nicholas Cage play the same 'character' he always does in that new film of his. P.S. soccer does not suck, it is "the beautiful game." False. And I'm an American so I know. ![]() Honestly, it has some potential. The field is just too damned big. They run around and kick the ball toward a goal and all one guy has to do is kick it back to an area no one else is and then they mill about and start over again. It's just ... boring to me. Shorten and narrow the field and these guys would be playing the game the entire time. Trust me, it would be much better. Oh, and while we're changing sports around, we should also make NBA games last about 2 and a half minutes. That's when they're decided anyway. The final scores we see are like YuGiOh numbers. Pointlessly large for the sake of being pointlessly large. Of course there's also the other end, ugly stuff like this: Dood. If soccer had more of that I may be interested. |
| #9homicidal_squirrelFeb 25, 2011 12:15:20 | Nope. If I wanna see terrible acting, I'll go waste two or whatever hours of my life watching Nicholas Cage play the same 'character' he always does in that new film of his. If soccer had more stuff like thiis I would actually watch a game. Hell, if any other sport had more stuff like this, I would watch sports. You know you would to... just to see what the next guy was going to pull. |
| #10zombie_babiesFeb 25, 2011 12:25:32 | Nah, I watch sports I like cuz I like them enough to understand the game. Acting isn't part of the game. If it is, it's not a game I'd watch. I want to see people compete athletically, not at improv acting. EDIT: Not that this wasn't funny, of course, and the occasional goofball thing is ok so long as it has no real impact on the game and isn't so common it's what the sport is most known for (aside from incredibly rabid, racist and violent fanbases - oh, and add stupid, too, what with all the deaths resulting from human stampedes). There was an incredibly funny flop incident in an NCAA football game last season. Some D lineman was standing after the play, looking at his bench. Suddenly, he fell to the ground in apparent agony. The delay was what made it gold. They did it to slow down the opposition's hurry-up game and make some substitutions. This, of course, does impact the game in a small way but not nearly as much as a possible player ejection and penalty shot for something that didn't even happen. And it's pretty rare, too. |
| #11modern_iconoclastFeb 25, 2011 17:22:55 | Australian football, or rugby is kind of a mix between American football and soccer, it can be entertaining and they have interesting formations at times. I like that the action has a continual flow, less stops than American football and less "dead" time than European soccer, and it's pretty much a full-contact sport. You basically strip down a football player of his gear and tell him he can pretty much do anything with the ball 'til he drops it in the goal. You can climb on someone's shoulder to get the ball, cool stuff. |
