| #1lokifleshmageFeb 01, 2010 22:11:58 | Hey all first time poster. Wanted to know if it was possible to get over 8 rings in a 3.5 setting. I know its possible for epic level to get 8. I guess its a multipart question really. First: how many rings can you get pre-epic levels? I have it set at 5 from my research. Second: how many rings can you get in epic levels? I have it set at 8 from my research. Third: What would you do with 8 rings and 5 rings? I heard there is a ring of universal energy resistance. that would be shiny. any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. it was a thought that crossed my mind a while ago. would like to see what you have for suggestions thanks in advance |
| #2darkspartanFeb 01, 2010 22:50:09 | Ring of Universal Energy Resistance would definitely be shiny. Your numbers of rings sound about par for 3.5, although I would blanch at what some enterprising player might come up with for a combination. -Sarena |
| #3brianusaFeb 01, 2010 23:14:05 | Maybe not. Unless I'm missing something with that word 'universal'... D&D 3.5 rules Ring Energy Resistance: This reddish iron ring continually protects the wearer from damage... community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... |
| #4pigknightFeb 01, 2010 23:22:19 | I'm confused. |
| #5lokifleshmageFeb 01, 2010 23:41:48 | ok, shoulda posted this elsewhere from the look of things... but eh. the quote at the top was an attention getter not really what the campaign was for. i was just curious to see what ya all had to say. that link is pretty shiny. hmm... anywhos... yep, mountain dew is leaving me crashed out for energy...lol. oh, that universal ring was something i found.. cant remember where exactly. the price on it was about double what all five rings of energy resistance were altogether. was thinking something like a ring of ironskin. gives like 15dr/adamantine. the other 6 rings i leave to your imagination. |
| #6lokifleshmageFeb 02, 2010 1:15:34 | oh i get it now... off topic tavern. because the responses can be completely off the topic at hand... also i dont know if that picture qualifies as inapropiate content or not. from context in the series we know that is the character giving the middle finger. so am i correct in understanding that this character is in effect giving me the finger indirectly by being posted in this thread? |
| #7ADHadhFeb 02, 2010 3:44:09 | oh i get it now... off topic tavern. because the responses can be completely off the topic at hand... You've been trolled by BrianUSA, the weird guy that sits in a dark corner of the Tavern, muttering to himself. Don't mind him. |
| #8lokifleshmageFeb 02, 2010 8:38:57 | figured i been trolled... not a stranger to it. blocked him. thanks for letting me know. anybody have any more constructive comments? thanks all, appreciate it |
| #9mynameisjakeFeb 02, 2010 18:52:00 | Try posting on the Previous Editions: Magic Items forum. You'll probably get better feedback there. And I'm not sure BrianUSA is actually a troll. I think he's...damaged. |
| #10lokifleshmageFeb 02, 2010 20:50:11 | well i suppose i should give him another chance. he has been around here before me. thanks for the help jake. will check it out. |
| #11brianusaFeb 02, 2010 22:46:20 | Look, I'm still here, wow. I don't care whether any of you write me messages. At the moment, I'm decidely caught between the people staking out my place... And the fact I'm very confused over why people on the t.v. keep informing me Joe Biden was behind these CIA drone missile strikes. It's a complicated world we live in... The VP doesn't really have that type of power anyway. Pakistan is absolutely required for our counter-insurgency mission in Afghanistan. Stan has got to be going off...I really don't know though. I want to know...but he won't be allowed to speak. Things aren't making a whole lot of sense to me these days. You don't need to worry too much about those type of things tho'. I'll try to help your gaming spirit up when I can...it's just that...well... My story is a sad one, and complicated...but I have D&D to remind me of better days, I guess. Sorry to scare y'all. |
| #12zombie_babiesFeb 03, 2010 9:22:02 | The ring mentioned is from the Epic Handbook. It is, in fact, quite shiny. Friendly reminder: Calling a poster a troll is a reportable offense. It's baiting. Just keep it in mind. Breaking the CoC is bad no matter what 'side' you're on. |
| #13lokifleshmageFeb 03, 2010 13:48:52 | ok so i just had a thought, i want to make a big bad end guys weapon smith/everything smith with these rings. ring of universal energy immunity ring of weapon breaking- acts as a ring of iron skin give you 15 dr/adamantine ring of regeneration/fast healing(this is a special user made ring) ring of sustenance (doesnt need to eat or drink and he can go 22 hours a day working, goin with this thought he could use a hewards handy bedroll to work 23 hours a day) ring of water walking (cuz thats just freakin sweet!) ring of xray vision (to see anyone coming near) and... hmm. stuck for the other two rings... but i was thinking maybe i could make him like this build i saw from another board. Artificer 5/Alchemist Savant 2/Alchemist Savant +3/Master Alchemist 10. this guy would be so ready and prepped for any party to come into his place they would be dead on arrival. lets consider this for a while. they guy needs only sleep one hour a day. doesnt need to eat or drink. 23 hours*7=161 hours a week. 161*365=58,765 hours in one year for him to work. with the proper feats he can create items in 3/4 the time or less at 3/4 the xp and gold cost. he could make 9th level spell potions practically as a free action... lol, love this. got some more stuff to think on now |
| #14ADHadhFeb 03, 2010 15:46:55 | Hmm, are you aware of the one-ring-per-hand limit? ;) |
| #15lokifleshmageFeb 03, 2010 16:02:05 | yes i am very much aware of that particular limit. however there are ways to get around it. way number one: feat: extra rings. allows four rings to be worn without penalty. item: mummified hand (or something) allows another ring to be worn. its an amulet slot item. this is five at pre epic levels. epic level feat which allows one more magic item per hand/neck slot. so you get two more rings on your hands and one more on your neck. eight rings epic level. |
| #16ADHadhFeb 03, 2010 16:12:12 | I'm not as familiar with 3.x rules, so apart from the mumified hand I didn't know any other ways to wear more rings. The concept makes sense to me now ![]() |
