Anybody else finally give up on it? I deleted it from my bookmarks today. It delivered, finally, after about a month since the last one. But I have grown tired of waiting for the next strip, checking daily to see if it has been posted. Waiting for a haphazard posting is frustrating when the product delivered is so consistently wonderful. OotS has become a drug, and I will no longer subject myself to its intermittent forced-but-temporary withdrawal. I quit. For my sanity.

I gave up on OoTS a while ago - mainly because it stopped being funny and the page started to get filled up far more with speech bubbles.

I keep four folders for webcomic links - 'regular' comics that update regularly multiple times a week (or irregularly, but still frequently) that I check a couple times a week (ie, shortpacked), 'slow' comics that update less regularly or less frequently that I check a couple times a month (ie, waspi square), 'hiatus' comics that haven't updated in a while that I'll check back on in a few months to see if it started up again (ie ornery boy), and 'dead' comics that either ended or that stopped updating for more then a year but that I occasionally might want to re-read or suggest to a friend (ie, bob and george).
Rather then quit it, put a bookmark on the last page you read, stick it in a folder labeled 'on hiatus', and check back in couple months or a year or two to see if it ever got back on track. No sense to get bitter and 'cut all ties' or whatever if you still like where the comic was going (if, on the other hand, you didn't appreciate the shift from 'joke strip poking fun at game mechanics' to 'fantasy story with an attempt at ongoing narrative, plot, and character development', then by all means just drop it). It's not updating regularly, dude's got a lot of stuff going on, just give it a break for a while.

Yeah, thats how I do it. Save the last page to replace the bookmark.
I love the Order of the Stick. I consider it a reliable staple of web comics.
I read the web comics every weekend. I get disappointed if OotS didnt put out a new page. But you know, its free. And surely the author has a life.
Anyway, I look forward to the next installment, and hope it comes soon.
Sometimes when Im in the mood, I purposely dont read the web comics for a month or two, so I can go back and reread them in sequence, one after the other. Its a nice way too to read them.

Echoing the irony that you're quitting after we FINALLY got an update.
I don't even go there for the comic anymore. I go there for the forums, and I look on the left side of the page once a day.
I love Order of the Stick too. I can definitely see the addiction/withdrawal comparison. I've been getting it to various degrees from different comics. I think the unpredictable schedule makes it a little worse: if I know, say, 2kinds will only be updated once a week I can just bide my time waiting for a week. But with OotS and some other ones I check back at least daily most of the time even though it's much less than that in the best of times because I just don't know.
(Ironically, I tend to check back on Drowtales about 1/week and they are pretty much daily now.)

Since 2007, the comic has been published on an irregular schedule due to the author's ongoing health concerns.
While I can sympathize with the frustration, you can hardly blame the author for health issues that interfere with a regular schedule.

Yeah, I still read OotS. No, I haven't given up on it. I know Mr. Burlew has health issues, so between that and not wanting to be one of the "give me free stuff faster" crowd, I don't make an issue of the sometimes glacial update rate.
I must admit, his decision to stick with 3.5e rules for the purposes of the comic is making it feel horribly dated whenever he makes a rules based joke (which he doesn't do very often anymore). I'm not going to say it was the wrong decision, but... Well, given the update rate, we're likely to see 5e and Pathfinder 2 before he finishes, which will make things seem even more dated. But I don't see how he can prevent that without making things feel horribly rushed.
I check every couple of days, but not as regularly as I used to.
Alternatively, go there once a month and read whatever had been posted since you last looked. That is what I do. I admit, the last month was a bit disappointing, but most months I get a few solid minutes of story all in one package.
This is what I do with a bunch of long-delay comics, like VG Cats and Copper. I go check on them every 4 months or so.
The only webcomic that I used to read regularely that I've since given up on (as opposed to "gotten bored with") is Megatokyo.
