Link to the sign-up thread.

In the city of Genericston, capital of the Divine Principality of Generica, there is unrest. Everything from gangs, overzealous guards, and feral dogs/cats/ceratopsians/fluffy gerbils roam the streets, while rumor has it that the heirless Grand Prince Leopold the Incontinent has been struck with the dreaded Incandescent Wasting Disease.

As a result, several factions have sprung up in the city to take advantage of the imminent power vacuum. The city guard and national army are one, under the command of General Ulric Drakeslayer, and several nobles head other factions. It is also rumored that the Cabal of the Seven is directing some of the events from their spire at the outskirts of the city.

Of course, neighboring nations are attempting to take advantage of the situation, and rumors abound of a large hobgoblin army marching from the east and conquering all in their path.

Basically, it's that time of (Arbitrary Time Measurement Unit): the return of the net-famous OTT RP game! (Insert half-hearted fanfare.) I am your host/GM, Ragnar Lodbrok! (Insert boos and thrown fruit.) Unlike normal, this is not associated with a forum game. Rather, this will be pure RP. The setting is intentionally left vague, so the participants may flesh it out.

Rrowow padded silently through the early morning fog that shrouded the harbor district, known to the locals as Fishton. He pondered the information his contact had given him. Lord High Admiral Tiberius had sailed this morning on an ostensible pirate-hunting mission. Rrowow wondered what the fat human admiral was really up to. He certainly wouldn't bestir his bulk to hunt pirates.

"Where do your loyalties really lie, Tiberius?" Rrowow muttered to himself. "Who's pocket are you resting in?" The admiral's ship had turned south out of the harbor, but that wasn't much to go on.

Shaking off his musings, he quickened his pace. He had to meet with the rats yet this morning, and it would be best to finish that business before the fog lifted.

Meanwhile...

Bob,Bob Silversword stands on the stage in the spacious common room of  the Cliché Bar & Grill juggling invisible objects, no one seems very impressed. He reaches into his cloak, pulling out a ornately carved wand and waves it around in the air a few times and shouts, "Alooshtabban!", nothing happens. "wait for it...", he says. Nothing happens. Bob, Bob snaps his fingers, "Ahha! I've got it! This one gets em every time! He pulls of his wide brimmed, greatly feathered, hat and sticks his hand inside and begins feeling around. "Ow!", he suddenly says while jerking his finger to his mouth and dropping the hat. From the hat, 3 white, cute and fuzzy bunnies hop out and head toward the exit. With his other hand Bob,Bob points to the bunnies and makes a motion as if to say, "Ta-Da!" He then picks his hat back up and places it on his head, he looks up for a minite with an odd expression on his face, he takes off the hat, looks inside. As he does this a fuzzy bunny can be seen sitting on top of his head. Looking satisfied at the hat, Bob,Bob Silversword puts the hat back on his head.

About this time, the bartender throws a bottle at Bob,Bob, and yells, "Hey! I told you to get down from there!"

The Ghost of Steve Irwin wanders the streets alone, talking to himself.

"Today we're in the outback of Genericston, and although this environment may seem lifeless, it holds a whole plethora of interesting and dangerous wildlife.  Keep your eyes sharp for their are feral cats, dogs and dangerous fluffy gerbils.  I have also heard rumour of something called a ceratopsian.  To be honest with ya mates, I don't even know what that is, but I will not hesitate to grab one should the opportunity present itself."

As he approaches the Cliche Bar and Grill, two fluffy bunnies emerge from the entrance.

"Oh Crikey!  Today is our lucky day, I did not expect to encounter any of these.  Now we have to be so very quite and still.  These animals are skittish and potentially lethal if provoked."

Steve Irwin's Ghost crouches and prepares to leap.

In the Cliché Bar & Grill, several guards and a few nobles' henchmen are eating, drinking, and mocking the man on stage.

The rabbits both leaped at the ghost's throat, but missed because he was incorporeal.

"Whoa, that was close one!  They would have done me in for sure."

I look of realisation crosses the ghost's face, and he slumps to the ground.  "What am I good for if I can't grab things," he thinks to himself.  He manifests a case of Fosters and begins to sniffel as his hand passes through one of the cans.

"Don't...don't worry mates, ol' Steve Irwin never gives up.  Mind over matter ay?"

He begins to concentrate ever so hard on picking up a solitary ant crawling on the ground.

The part of the guards' conversation overheard goes:

"... And that is why you never, never, wear underpants while eating stew when guarding prisoners." "Or at least not while on duty at the wing holding the Breeches Killer." "Huh. Never would have guessed." "Of course, it's completely different on patrol. On patrol, you should always bring a clothespin, cooked pasta, a clay pot, and some spare socks. Got me out of at least ten different scrapes last month alone." "And don't forget your towel, either. Last time a rookie like you forgot his towel, we were cleaning him off the street he was on for a week straight."

Rrowow slips silently through the cellar window of the Cliché Bar & Grill. He pauses to scent the air, checking to be certain no one else is down here at this hour. Finding the area clear, he makes his way behind the stacks of ale kegs, and enters the rodents' lair. The strong musty rat-scent makes him sneeze once, as it always does.

As expected, his contact is waiting around the first bend. "Warehouse 13. Midnight." Rrowow growls, "The dog will meet you with further instructions." Message delivered, he turns for the exit.

Running a menial errand like this was not something he would normally volunteer for, but the Cliché Bar & Grill was one of the few human-run establishments in the city where a Kitteh would be served the same as one of the other races. It was also one of the few places that served fresh milk, and that was something worth even acting as a messenger for.

His thirst leading him on, Rrowow quickens his step toward the common room.

The door to the Cliché Bar & Grill opens and the semi-legendary General of the Northern Front, Wilbur Boarblade IX of the Holyhoof clan, enters, his silver full-plate clanking together and his signature weapon, the Divine Sword Excaliboar, at his side. He makes his way to the bar, fresh back from skirmishes against the barbarians terrorizing the outskirts of the kingdom and with a thirsty mouth.

"What'll it be?" the bartender asks the pyropig whilst cleaning an empty mug.

Wilbur sets down a few gold coins, looks into the bartender's eyes, and tells him, "Hot Cocoa. Extra marshmellows."

((*shrug*))

The squirrel soon recognizes that they are speaking about several recent incidents which would be considered absurd anywhere else, but standard occurances here.

The code, once broken, says "...

((For why "I attempt to figure out a code/find dirt/kill X" doesn't net much [if anything], look at previous things like this. It doesn't quite work like that usually.))

Eventually, the guards' conversation goes to typical chatter about work. The general expressed opinion is that wages and hours are fair, and the bunks in the barracks are too hard. Several guesses are voiced about what will happen next. A coup is mentioned as a possibility, as is remaining aloof from the faction fighting or supporting one of the claimants. They also begin getting slightly drunk.

((Happy?))

He signaled the barkeep for a refill, and turned his attention back to the ghost. "I'm sure you'll be back to molesting unwilling creatures again in no time.   "Goody, I'd like that in about, say, five seconds?"

"5 seconds you say? Done!"
Silversword then puts all his crap back into his hat and puts it back on his head (I'm assuming Steve Irwin's ghost had ample time to snatch a fuzzy bunny off his head before he put his hat back on, if he chose to do so.)

Silversword then pulls a metallic looking wand from his cloak and waits 5 seconds before waving it around a few times and pointing it in the center of the room and shouts,"Inna-Gadda-Da-Vidda!!"
Suddenly a bright light pulsates in the room, producing a strobe effect, several multicolored glowing orbs dance about the room, and the sound of Disco Inferno can be heard throughout the entire bar, possibbly the entire street.

Silversword looks dissapointingly at his wand, and then shrugs his shoulders as if to say, "ah well, good enough."

As he attempts to steal from the various fighty people, he's spotted quickly. ((They're all on edge right now due to the displays of magic, and quickly sobering.)) One of the henchmen, already angry, punches the idiot trying to rob them as hard as he can. The guards, already confused as to why the henchmen are so angry, seem even more so now. However, that changes when another henchman strikes one of them.

((Laminated IDs? Really? Besides, I doubt the bartender even knows what an archaeopteryx is. Nor is an extinct bird likely to be on the menu.))

Any way, Bob,Bob Silversword seemingly just now notices whats going on with the guards and henchmen. He looks back to his drinking companions, "Perhaps we should do something?"
He then Mage Hands one of the henchmen in the nuts. (they seem to be the instigators here).

Steve Irwin's Ghost notices a man down the bar remove his hat revealing two fluffy bunnies.  He resists his most primal urge and chants his new inner mantra to himself, "Will not grab the small animal.  Will not grab the small animal."  Whether the mantra works or not, the ghost is quickly distracted by the bubbles filling the room, until the cat speaks to him again.

He signaled the barkeep for a refill, and turned his attention back to the ghost. "I'm sure you'll be back to molesting unwilling creatures again in no time. After all, you've got nothing but time to practice. Perhaps, in the meantime, you should spend some time seeing how they live when they're not being interfered with."

As the bubbles fill the air, he turns to glare in the direction of Silversword, but his expression softens to amusement, and he utters a purring chuckle at the scene before him.

Now dissapointed that the man down the bar has re-donned his hat, he responds to the cat.

"Yeah...spend time with the animals in their native environment.  That's what I'm all about mate."

The ghost notices some trouble brewing and is startled when the flashling lights begin.  He floats hurriedly toward the ceiling talking to himself.

"We got some interesting insights from the natives, but it looks like we are going to see a bit of a punchup right now.  Best stand aside and let the natives work out their differences.  Did ya see the fluffy bunnies on that blokes head?  I cannot stress how potentially lethal these animals are."

The ghost witnesses the scuffle and floats back to the bar, no longer seeing the cat.

A slight breeze begins to play with the curtains in the Cliche Bar and Grille.  The afternoon sky begins to darken rapidly and the first light sprinkles of rain begin to fall.  Suddenly the building storm's fury seems to unleash all at once.  The sky darkens to a hue much more closely resembling night, the rain turns to hail and smashes down on those poor souls outside that hadn't reached shelter quite yet and the wind moves from pleasant breeze to remorseless gail in mere seconds.  All of the candle and lantern lights in the CBG are instantly quashed by the wind's power plunging the establishment - and all inside - into a surprised darkness.

No you not expected to bring anything, since it is House  del Sandburg that is hosting it. If you would just abide by the following:

  • There is no spirit of the law, only the letter of the law.

  • Beings have license to deliver and receive messages, and to have safe passage granted them so long as they do not instigate violence.

  • Part of a pledge of safe passport or conduct is a promise to not drug any offered food or drink.

  • Should a member of one house wrong another house, the aggreived party has the right to challenge their enemy to single combat.

  • (yes i took it from the dresden files :P)
"I do not think it is nesscery to go into the rules governing duels at this time and if you wish to,you may also engage in seeking to become a signatoryto the formentions rules in a mroe formal manner. That would entitle you to seek help from any of the others who argeed to them formally,,along with help with anything else and having a voice in any number of things that partain to the city and lands around it. My hosue is perpared to back you on this if that is your wish."

"One of you mates say party?  Sounds like a real ripper.  Maybe that dragon-killer bloke'll be there."

He turns towards the ghost and says "I regret to infrom you, that unless you are welcomed freely,no ghost can pass the threshold of the house. Any attemp to do so would result in some very bad things happening to you."

For the first time since gaining the status of the Elemaster, Rrowow is rendered speechless. Outwardly, he remains calm and collected, while inwardly his mind works frantically to make sense of what he's just heard. Only one who knew the Kitteh people well would recognize the tremendous shock he was struggling to deal with.

After a few moments, he finds his voice. "Do I understand you correctly? Are you saying that House del Sandburg is willing to back a Kitteh, who's people are not even recognized as citizens, in a bid for nobility?"

Bob,Bob then begins motioning as if hes juggling something, but no objects can be seen. "anybody can juggle balls that you can see, it takes real talent to juggle ones you cannot!" A thump is heard on the ground at Silversword's feet, "damnit! I lost one!" 3 more thumps are heard. "Damnit! give me a minute!" Silversword then gets on all fours and starts feeling his way along the ground. A nearby patron slips on something as he walks towards the bar and falls on his ass, "Ahha! Found one! "Well it wouldn't be noblity,it would however make put your people on equal footing when doing business. For exmaple the Fae courts are also signatories to the accords, but they do not have noblity like I and the other houses do,since noblity for us is something your born into.  It would basicaly grant you the rights of being a citizen and the same power as if you had been human and in a house of noblity."

"how many more of them are there? How long have they been here!? These things could be anywhere!"
Silversword begins looking in all directions frantically.

"Ooooh, I don't see any others mate, but I think this one's got it in for me."

The ghost floats backward while trying to maintain a tenuous grip on the collar.  The collar breaks off suddenly falling to the floor with a slight thunk.  The pitch of the screeching escalates, achieving a cacophonous din.

    Silversword still searches around frantically.
"does anybody got a clue what the hell is going on!?"

"Bob! Calm down." Rrowow snaps. "Steve, get away from it before it makes my ears bleed."

Without waiting to see if either obeys, Rrowow moves to where the collar, now visible, landed. He studies it a moment, doing his best to ignore the confusion. Seeing no obvious danger, he stoops to pick the collar up, and begins looking for markings that might give some clue to the owner's identity.

He watches the secen wondering who it belongs to. HE looks over at Rrowow and says " IS there a name on the collar?"

"There are some markings here, but I'm not sure it's even a language. If it is, it's one I've never seen or heard before." Rrowow studies the silver engravings a moment longer, then shrugs and tosses the collar onto the bar. "Maybe one of you can make some sense out of it."

The thing continues shrieking, though it appears to survey the scene. Apparently deciding that the bar full of people is too much of a risk, it spreads its wings.

(The markings on the collar are some sort of arcane glyphs.)

The thing continues shrieking...it spreads its wings.

"Uh....mates.....it looks like this thing is going to have a bit of a flutter, and it's got right nasty looking stinger on it.  Maybe someone should open up a window...and bloody quick!"

Rrowow moves quickly to the window nearest the strange creature and pushes open the shutters. "Good idea. Let's not cause it any more trauma than we have to. With luck, it'll head for wherever it makes its home. Poor thing's probably scared witless."

It makes a half jumping, half flying rush towards the window and takes a good chunk of the frame out as it gets its bulk through. It then flies off to the northwest.

He watches it flee saying  "Looks like it's headed for old town."

After being told to calm down, Bob stops and takes a few deep breaths. He notices a few unantended drinks on the bar and finishes them off. Noticeing the windoframe explode outward, Bob gives a sigh of relief, "It's Gone!, Thank the gods!" Bob then begins feeling around on the bar, "Did it leave its egg?"

"Ya haven't lost it have ya mate?  We should hatch it.  You could put it underneath one of those potentially-lethal fluffy bunnies to keep it warm."

"I sat it on the bar around here somewhere." Silversword continues searching around on the bar, coming across the collar, he picks it up and studies it for a moment. "Ahhh, it's not a name, it's a spell, specifically a spell of binding." Bob then shoves the collor into his cloak, and continues searching for the egg.
