Aug 01, 2011 9:53:51 Full-Circle-Outsourcing: A Mumbai, India, company, Aegis Communications, announced in May that it will hire about 10,000 new employees to work in its call centers fielding customer service problems for U.S.-based companies. However, those jobs are not in India. Aegis will outsource those jobs to Americans, at $12 to $14 an hour, at nine call centers in the United States. [Washington Post, 5- 20-2011]

I used to have a couple of friends who worked for PacBell/SBC/AT&T. I don't know how long this was true, or if it still is, but when it was called SBC even the phone company's call centers were in India. But if you asked to speak to a supervisor you were transferred back to California.

I would venture a guess and say "contracts".

It's probably earning the Indian company money and that's all that matters. (Well, to them anyway)

Yep. And it has to be earning them money. I bet the American companies' contracts would come out to at least $15 per hour per head. Cash money for the Indian company.

Aug 02, 2011 9:38:42 I sort of figured it was a combination of contracts and economy. When we originally outsourced, it wouldn't surprise me if we were paying $20-25 an hour for those jobs. Now that we are in desparate need of jobs, that company realized it could re-outsource those jobs back to us at a much lower rate and make money for nothing....and get chicks for free.
