Paizo Adventure Path Subscription Stinker

I've been a subscriber to Paizo's Adventure Path since it replaced my Dragon and Dungeon subscriptions. The adventures seem high quality, and the production quality of the products is good.

The second adventure path, Curse of the Crimson Throne, is wrapping up this month, and the third adventure path, Second Darkness, is kicking off.

With the launch of 4e I'd been thinking that I might pause my subscription. I haven't made it through the first adventure path yet, let alone the second. So when I looked at the automatic shipment notice from Paizo that I thought would be the end of the second adventure path, I was *surprised* to see that the shipment included the first adventure in Second Darkness in addition to the final Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure. WHOA. That's stinky, in my opinion. Paizo apparently wanted to make sure that they got at least some revenue bump from their third adventure path, anticipating that folks like me might be ready to jump ship. So they charged me for and shipped to me an adventure that I didn't plan on buying.

As a result, I've sent a note to Paizo customer service (they don't let you manage your subscription on their web site -- you must correspond with their customer service group to accomplish that) cancelling my subscription. I feel that Paizo took advantage of me, and I don't intend to patronize a company that behaves this way.

Could be the same as what happened during RotR. They somehow got behind a month and ended up releasing two issues a week apart. I don't think they intentionally set it up so people would pay for two issues without knowing. I mean, you did get an e-mail about it. It's probably just that they're system is not really set up to be that customizable.

If your already on Pathfinder, I suggest you don't switch over to 4e. After all, edition war is still on and who knows?;)
