#1 boraxe Jan 03, 2011 11:18:10	According to this link, Pathfinder sales were tied with those of D&D in Q3 2010. I am neither pro nor con either PF or 4e, and am not angling to start and edition war, I just thought this a very impressive feat.

#5 ADHadh Jan 03, 2011 13:28:33	What is pathfinder cuz I thought it was DnD It's related to D&D: a third-party product based on D&D3.5 (sometimes called D&D3.75). It launched pretty much alongside 4e. It is published by Paizo, which shares (or at least used to) a few employees with WotC.
#6 Robin_Hoodlum Jan 03, 2011 13:33:58	I am not a huge fan of D&D in general, and certainly not a fan of 4e in the slighest, but I would rather play Pathfinder than any edition of D&D, including and especially 3.x... Pathfinder was what we were playing before we were turned by the Dark SideTM.

#9 Escef Jan 03, 2011 23:01:06	I'm genuinely happy for Paizo. The last few years I think WotC's been fumbling the ball, especially on the digital frontier.  And Paizo has taken advantage of it. I'm not going to begrudge a game company their success.
#10 pluisjen Jan 04, 2011 5:56:03	Yeah I'm not going to begrudge them either. They might make something that's not my taste, at least they're producing a good game in essence. When you compare them to companies like Zynga (Farmville and crap like that ) I'm glad there's still some out there that make actual games.
#11 echosave Jan 04, 2011 14:09:03	I am also not surprised, and enjoyed reading, that Pathfinder has matched D&D in sales. Naysayers will "Nay" as they will, but Paizo continues to tap into a vital market that felt stranded after 4E was released, and as long as Paizo keeps pumping out quality material, they will evenly match the D&D market quite easily I believe. Also, as someone who owns Pathfinder and every core product from them thus far for that system, I eagerly await the next Pathfinder product(s) with barely contained relish. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy D&D (even 4E), but Pathfinder is where I find the most enjoyment out of my pure fantasy tabletop RPG's.
#12 EscherEnigma Jan 04, 2011 14:57:09	I dunno... not to bash pathfinder, but personally I just haven't heard anything about it that makes me think "hey, if I want to play a d20 game I'll pick up pathfinder instead of just using my extensive collection of D&D 3.0, D&D 3.5, Star Wars: Revised Edition, and D20 Modern."  I mean, I'm sure it's fine as a game, but I've already bought the basic system of it four times now (with various variations to the basic rules) and all sorts of supplements... I just don't see a reason to buy the same system again, y'know? Of course, I also stand by my default rule of "the system we're playing is whatever system the GM wants to run."  So if I got into a group that was running or wanted to run pathfinder, I'd probably pick it up.  But I've just not heard anything unique about it that makes me want to pick it up for it's own sake1. ________ 1Which I have done for some games.  I bought D&D 3.0 before I knew any other pen&paper gamers, and when I picked up D20 modern I had no expectation of ever using it (it was something like 4 years before I ever ran a game, and that was a bit of a surprise to be honest).  Heck, a while back I picked up New WoD and Changeling without any real expectation of playing the game.  When I found a PBP for it I was kinda surprised.
